WHY? In the name of mercy tell us why the mayor’s office is breathing down there necks? WHAT? Totten is a major construction firm in the city. Their current big project is renovation of an old eyesore and gentrification of a bad part of town. What, in the name of all which is unholy, does the mayor want? Publicity pictures at the site so she can take credit for the project?
Why is the mayor’s office calling and what’s the problem? Has the mayor’s office discovered there is something rotten in Denmark since the police are clueless and are attempting to steal a march on the police?
I had hoped a new writer might attempt to set the bar higher in terms of mystery, not lower in terms of logic… Although, given the number of weeks we’re into the story without a clue as the nature of the crime some might interpret that as more mysterious. I, obviously, am not that generous.
1- FRED SR: You’re not running around the city embarrassing me are you boy? You know folks often mistake you for me seeing as how we’re practically identical!
2- FRED JR: No, Dad. I’m just looking up at the 34th floor of Totten Tower and I think I can see you. Wave your arms!..
3 – : Yes…there you are. Now just keep doing that while I get you sighted in…WITH MY CAMERA PHONE I MEAN. Yeah. My 30 ought 6 camera phone…heh heh…
Okay, I’m now going with Fred Jr being the identity of Sprengstoff’s killer, who definitely had his hands around Sprengy’s neck. Now, is he also the person in the clock tower on October 27? And does Fred Sr. know anything about all this?
Are we ever going to get to the point of this story? I am old enough to remember Chet Gould. His characters had nuance. We knew their motivation and why they did what they did. They were interesting because they were more than villains. They were fully formed human beings. When they failed in a human relationship, we almost felt sorry for them. Mrs. Pruneface is a great example. Her husband, of course, was Pruneface. She held Dick Tracy responsible for her husband’s death. The story opens with Mrs. Pruneface as a cook for a frat house. The boys love her. She is a great gal. later, she turns menacing atreventually tries to kill Tracy in one of Gould’s best death traps. Shaky fell in love with gentle, doomed Snowflake. A killer who truly fell in love. we could empathize with Shaky’s humanity while condemning his crime. Dick Tracy needs these types of criminals. Charles Ettinger, Mike Curtis and Eric Costello need to learn about character development. Check out the Flattop, Jr. continuity.

Junior already lit up the tower before we took a break from the story. What is she bugging “Dad” about now?

I’m starting to enjoy this story’s pacing.
Relax, breath, savor every moment.
Stop and smell the rose’s.
Take your time, no need to rush
Hmmmmmmm,

Good morning™, Problem Solvers !
Junior is quite the fixer. Granddad would be proud. Is that an armadillo on the P.3. helmet ?
