I think it was North Dakota this past week where NPR said the more humid summers have made it harder to grow wheat, easier to grow corn.go with the flow (but not the floe, it’s melting)
My almost 30-year old son, who is a fish biologist working at reinstating natural salmon run to the Columbia River basin, and is long-term girlfriend plan on NOT having children because of the crazy world we live in. She is a biology/ environmental science teacher.
We’re actually having an unseasonably cool summer in the southeast. I know that climate science says not to look at local weather patterns year by year and draw conclusions from that, but rather to look at larger global trends over large periods of time. But when Trudeau and others start a political cartoon or statement by saying “another unseasonably hot day”, they contribute to public misunderstanding of science. Both sides make this mistake – those who do not believe that humans are causing climate change love to make jokes based on extremely cold weather when it happens.
Most scientists do not agree that humans are the primary engine of climate change. I am sure that the majority would agree that if we do not end our dependence of fossil fuels, we will poison ourselves out of existence long before we make a lasting change on global climate.
National Snow and Ice Data Center (yes there is such a thing) shows Arctic Sea ice DECLINING and is below average in ALL sectors. So, no, it is NOT increasing, but nice Fox LIE.http://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/
“Actually, the Arctic Ice has been increasing, not melting (or lessening). ".Methinks thou art confusing Arctic ice with Antarctic sea ice, but ye are definitely not talking about the rainfall in North Dakota and the fact that farmers wherever have had to switch from one cereal to another..They have adapted to changing conditions, no matter what the source of the change and totally irrespective of polar ice problems or lack thereof.
I usually avoid commenting on climate change because I really don’t know enough. I will agree on the comment about not being swayed by local weather pattern.I told my Aunt who lives in Germany, the winter in the northeast US was the winter that would never leave. She said, in Europe they had the winter that never came. The mild winter in Europe played a direct role in the political crisis in the Ukraine. The pro-Russian president was hoping the protesters would leave the Square in Kiev once the cold weather came. The cold weather never came and the protesters stayed, forcing a final confrontation that became deadly.
Right never believe the people with the data that study these things. Believe the billionaire oil men who would lose billions if we implemented a plan to fix the problem.
First, check out the sources that climate change deniers post. You’ll find that every one of them is funded by oil companies or conservative think tanks, i.e., those who have the most to lose when we stop spewing our waste into the air we breathe. Then, check out http://www.350.org and http://www.skepticalscience.com/argument.php and you’ll find a well-reasoned consensus of the world’s scientists, together with supporting data. If you believe the wolves, prepare to be eaten.

Yeah, but what about the sour cream and queso fresco? I heard that 90% of it will be half gone by 2034!

A hot day in summer is unseasonable?
Hey, let’s use more farmland for ethanol and waste more money on people like McAuliffe. That’ll work.

Hence the prediction that local weather will be weird, not necessarily hot all the time, is accurate.

You can’t have your own facts (or stuff you make up). Arctic Sea ice is declining year to year see nsidc.org which tracks the sea ice coverage daily.
