FWIW, the vast majority of federal employees are civil service, hired for their specialized competence, not their political connections, and they just keep on keeping on whenever the White House experiences a change of party for its primary occupant. And a good thing, too! Political patronage has its place, but it doesn’t involve janitors, secretaries, foresters, surgeons, or space-launch specialists.

While I sympathize with Joanie, she did submit a resignation, and she knew the incoming president was a vindictive little brat, so she should have seen it coming and had resumés out. And probably already had offers.
