Back in school, I scored so high on an IQ test that MENSA was bugging me to join. No thanks. If you ever meet a MENSA member, the first thing you’ll find out is that they’re a MENSA member. “Hi, nice to meet you. I’m smarter than you are.”
I did really well on the GMAT so they sent me an invitation to join but I decided that it wasn’t really something I wanted to do. My brother in law decided he wanted the prestige of being able to claim MENSA membership so took the test, got in and said it was the worst group meeting he had ever went to. Everybody was standing around impressing each other how smart they are. I told him that’s why I didn’t join.I have never been impressed with “elitist” of any type. Never joined a country club neither. My B-I-L also joined country club. That one he liked. Now I did join the American Legion. That’s the only group (that and VFW though I didn’t join that one (qualified but figured one was enough)) that I am good with being associated with.
