and you hope the jeans are Levi’s with double-stitch seams … or else she’s in trouble if she bends over to pick up the kids. Of course, these comics were in the age of the Jordache … anyone ever need pliers to pull their jeans on?

@rugratz2222 Every pair of jeans I had in high school had to be zipped with pliers :) Ahhh the memories. Now every pair of jeans is made with some lycra so they stretch for you.

Really, mom needs to quit beating herself up and start going to zumba.

And two kids and cooking for a family every night, not to mention just growing up. Women aren’t supported to weigh the same at 16 and 26. Neither are men.

And for crying out loud, Elly is not remotely fat. The worst I can say is that her belly may not have recovered completely from being pregnant with Elizabeth but SHE IS NOT FAT!.

What is with you people? Are you all into anorexics or something? Jeesh!

TexTech - never said she was fat. But I bet she has an unrealistic view of her own body … maybe those jeans were from early days of marriage before kids? Not saying she cannot get back to that size, but if you don’t work on it, you won’t get there magically either. I’m at my marriage weight (still going) from 20 years ago but I needed gastric bypass surgery as my tool, plus major lifestyle commitment of eating the right stuff and less of it, plus exercise 3 to 4 times a week. Part of the consequences of loving your cake (in my case meat and potatoes) and having too much of it to eat, too. So I’m off to the gym now for stairmaster and eliptical, but I’m loving it now and wouldn’t have it any other way. ;-))

Maybe she should try rolling over onto her stomach and then sliding off the bed backwards and see if that helps.

At 73, I can eat very healthy etc and do all my workouts, but all my body mass will never be apportioned as it was in my 20s or 30s. One needs to accept reality - but I think I look fine for one who would not dream of wasting money on botox or other that I can use on house or other projects I enjoy!

    Vidazzle, that is so true.

Age and gravity affect us more than we know.

Even if we lose weight equal to when we were young, joints expand, stuff shifts.

When I weigh less than I did as a teenager, I still can’t fit back into the same clothes.
