The dog does not eat that because he is smart, as for the leftovers, well the one who made the food must eat them (fair is fair)

Nonsense. Dogs will eat nearly anything, but they sort of test it first. Rice and beans? No problem.

Doesn’t eating all the leftovers sort of defeat the whole losing weight vegetarian diet idea?

They live in an isolated area, or else there would be a neighborhood uproar over the smell of their constant farts!! ;-)

It is not a good idea to give musical beans to large dogs. It would be lethal

If even your dog won’t eat your cooking, that’s a major clue right there…

I just had a vegetarian lunch yesterday. It was made with corn, avocado, tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, onions, garlic, cilantro and lime juice (among other ingredients). OK, so it was Fritos with guacamole and salsa verde. I just said it was vegetarian. I never said it was healthy!

Incidentally, Lynn’s first new book in the Alottabotz series is now available! The characters and concept are completely different from FBOFW, and very cute.

Splash some Tabasco or B B Q sauce on it. Close your eyes and swallow. Wait ’till she gets to the Brussell Sprouts casserole.

Losing weight is theoretically simple. To lose weight, caloric output must exceed caloric input. Burn the extra calories in one way or another.

    Beans, Beans,

    Their natures fruit.

    The more you eat,

    The more you toot.

    The more you toot,

    The better you feel.

    So eat some beans,

    With every meal.

Save them for another meal didn’t enter anyone’s mind? That is the purpose of leftovers.

I was reading about “whole protein” which is protein that contains all the necessary nutrients such as selenium that the body needs to survive. Beans with rice is such a protein just as is meat, eggs and dairy. Vegans, as a opposed to Vegetarians, do not ingest complete proteins and must take supplements in order to maintain their health. I used to watch “The Amazing Dr. Pol” on TV and learned that ruminants like cows may not get some of those micro nutrients and must get injections in order to thrive.

    Or this strip…

April: Then what do we do with the leftovers?

    Elly: Wait until later.

    April: When is later?

Elly: Tomorow morning. We will be having cold beans for breakfast.

Why is Elly so obsessed with her health? Is she worried about a heart attack or stroke? She is acting as if OHIP has been repealed.

Poor Elly. She is trying to make her family understand that healthy eating is for their own good. Also for them not to be freeloaders of OHIP.

When I was much poorer I sometimes would eke out the dog food by feeding them rice and beans. They loved it. After observing whole beans coming out the back end the first time I mashed the beans before serving. Didn’t want to waste them!
