Today it would have been a series of books: ‘War’, ‘Peace’, etc.
That’s the problem with publishers. They have their own ideas about the scope of a novel. They resemble directors of films based on popular novels – the Reacher series -2022 – being one example. Only the author would ever recognize the source.
