Huh. When I was being as much like Caulfield as I thought of … and dared … book reports came with a due date, after which there was no point begging.

I don’t see the relevance. So what if the lights are still up – is she using them?

Question is, does he get indefinite deadline suspensions or does he get the grade he deserves? A low mark or two might bring him to see the reality, i.e., that he is not superior to the other students.

Standard commercial lighting is installed and left alone for several years until enough bulbs have gone to be cut down and totally replaced.

Actual “lighting” can be controlled by switches.

It’s mid-June. School is out.

Properly installed, one can leave Christmas lights up for the whole year, w/o looking strange. “Properly installed” is the key.

She’s also got a badass Chevelle in the garage. I don’t care about the xmas lights.

YThe kid is clever sometimes, but that is known as backtalk… Principal’s office. Just rude. Sounds like the way a former president of ours spoke.

I just can’t see the smartest kid in the school having assignments late.

It’s only a cultural norm, not a requirement, to take down the lights – it is, however, a requirement to do the schoolwork.

Having said that, I had a little conflict in Junior High about doing homework when I was getting A’s on all of the tests…

What I don’t get, however, is that Caulfield is seemingly not in an accelerated program of some kind when he’s apparently at a higher learning level than the rest of the class.

Caulfield needs a transfer to Big Nate’s school for a few months.
