Getting an aquarium would be a better choice.

I think with the wife’s face the little fish would have enough.

This is actually true! Scientists put a group of prey fish in a tank alone as a control. They took the same kind of fish and put it in a tank with a screen between them and a predator fish. The second group was healthier.

It turns out that you do need a certain amount of stress in your life.

Just think, there are fish who stay with sharks to eat the scraps of other fish and squid or whatever from their teeth. What one fears, another endears.

Years ago, my grandson gave me a beautiful Betta fish in his own little aquarium. Just to keep him on his game, I’d place a mirror outside the tank on occasion, so he could see his reflection. He’d immediately become aggressive with it. I had that guy for about 5 years – which I’m told is about 2 years longer than average – so I guess keeping from getting bored and complacent worked.

I say, throw the fish outside his bowl, and he will get a lot of exercise trying to get back in.
