Not to mention he was probably short, brown skinned with curly hair. Not the Northern European that some would have us believe. Also, he’d be branded as a socialist by today’s religious right. For fun, check out Betty Bowers, America’s Best Christian, on youtube.
Reminds me of a story of my father (who was a Jewish refugee from Germany). In his late teens he joined a youth group at the local church. One day, one of the priests asked him if he’d like to join the acolytes. He said, “You know I’m Jewish, right?” The priest answered, “That’s okay. So was Jesus.” So my dad became known as “The Jewish Acolyte”.
just as point of information: “It seems plausible that the Magi were “overjoyed” at again seeing before them, as they traveled southward, “his star,” Jupiter, which at its stationary point was standing still over Bethlehem. We do know for certain that Jupiter performed a retrograde loop in 2 B.C. and that it was stationary on December 25, interestingly enough, during Hanukkah, the season for giving presents.” from “The Star of Bethlehem” Imprimis by Hillsdale College, by Craig Chester Past President, Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy…it’s available online, wouldn’t let me post the url in here
