Must be one of those flesh-eating leaf piles.

Land piranhas.

It’s almost beyond be-leaf.

I think Calvin beat that leaf pile into submission with the rake back in the ’90’s.

I’ve often wondered what happens when Kite-Eating Trees shed their leaves.

I dare say some cryptid creature, normally hidden, crawls or slithers into the piles and various leaves and debris picked up by its sticky skin. A predator that ambushes, can be that way for hours before it moves on. Poor Liõ of this set of worlds dies. It might even be by a hide-behind using this as camouflage.
