Yeah, Toni. Use the “Fighter” part. TJ will take care of the “Fire” part. Oh, that was too easy. ….Seriously, though, I wonder how Ann would react to this. If Toni started annoying her, wouldn’t Ann take it out on Brad, even if Brad wasn’t in on the plan? Like TJ says, she’s a fiend. I hope they can find some way to work around Ann’s manipulations. …. Crazy prediction time! TJ met Elwood Druit, who had previously decided to expand his fortune by investing in Pittsville’s (seemingly) only fast food restaurant. Elwood now has control of WeenieWorld. TJ attempts to sweet-talk Elwood into taking care of Ann, but Elwood remains unconvinced. TJ needs to bring Toni into the plan to help persuade Elwood.

Some suggested TJ and Ann would be a good match – NOT! They would fight over the upmanship on the art of manipulation. A couple who try to manipulate each other don’t last at all. They will get fed up because they could not dominate one other and walk away. A manipulator only likes someone whom s/he can puppet. TJ doesn’t fit the profile. Brad – oh yes. He is so clueless to Ann’s manipulation and is a perfect victim. Which was why Greg picked him. Gunther would be another perfect victim. Knute – impossible to manipulate. He deflects everything. Quill might play the little games Ann plays and then make a quick escape like a little mouse heading straight for the unseen hole by the cat.

BUT TJ could frustrate Ann to the point of breakdown. I’d love to see that.

“Banned” as in exaggeration, it was a failed attempt on Ann’s part.

Check out 8/23 – as in Brad telling Toni “Ann doesn’t want you here while I’m working” – but then Toni reminded Ann she was a paying customer and Ann told Brad Toni’s lunch was on her. Brad was amazed because apparently Ann wasn’t mad at Toni coming by after all! * eyeroll *

I predict that Brad’s gonna get fired due to these two conspirators “helping” him to get away from Ann’s abuse, and he’ll only be allowed to come back to WW if he effectively signs over his life to Ann.

Then the finger pointing will start.

    Oh yes, it will start.

I said Greenland yesterday, but I think that’s too simple, and also too repetitive of the “solution” that was used by the bookstore. And if that were in the cards anytime soon, why bring TJ into the equation? There’s usually massive fallout to clean up whenever he gets involved, so I see a nasty scheme where everything goes to hell in a hurry.

That “Bradley” business is a dead giveaway. I always thought it was way too convenient that immediately after clydefrog got the boot from comics.com “coaster”, “CAD”, “coaster’s father” and “duckfat” appeared, then when the plug was pulled the perfect copy of clydefrog in “Coach Kleats”, “Professor Fate/JugheadJones” miraculously surfaced again. It’s a little too late to try to convince anyone they aren’t all the same person.

Pretty sad if that’s what you count as a “life achievement.”

It is great that Toni wants to help, but there is a central character point that is missing. We have gone from Brad being willing to “go all in” to save Toni’s life and go “all out” to get in shape and become a firefighter. These character points are dropped in favor of hanging on to a fast food job. Greg, I think you are taking the easy way out here.

@talker…the ‘line’ of this comic strip reflects the dire job situation in the US in which even a former ’ menial’ fast food job becomes a matter of great importance and survival to the person who is unemployed. Brad has already lost his former pride and shows signs of depression. He needs this job to pay his way and his proud days as a firefighter seem long gone to him. He has lost hope.

Ann is like many employers who are exploiting their desperate workers to exact more effort from them at little cost; I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that she shortchanges Brad on his pay slip.

TJ and Toni may cost Brad his job which could serve to deflate his ego even more. They’d be better to search out better employment opportunities that he can pursue.

You know, there’s a tone to TJ’s talk now that we haven’t seen. I don’t think he’s being mischievous here- I think he’s dead serious, and that will change the game. I think it’s time for TJ to really redeem himself. I don’t know what he has in mind for Toni to do, but I think it will work.

Nothing will happen to Ann because in the real world she’s the type than companies hire to put poor souls like Brad in line. I’ve been there but got out and got rich. That’s what Brad has to do think big, be his own boss and be a winner for once in his pitiful life.

As usual – another ill-concieved plan by TJ that has failure written all over it almost as soon as it has left his mouth. I can’t even figure out if he is suggesting that she fake being a fire marshall and close the place due to violations or if he is telling her to beat up Ann. Either way, Brad is out of WW and won’t be welcome back even to buy a weenie. And what on earth is she going to confront Ann about if it involves treating Brad poorly? If he doesn’t like the treatment, he can leave. It’s not like he is under contract.

Let’s see. She has raised Brad from Clean-up Boy to working the drive-up window and even left Brad in charge when she had a meeting to attend. Well that’s a clear cut case of mistreatment and manipulation if ever I heard of one. Confront her about that Toni and you’ll sound just as stupid as TJ.

The only way to get her to treat Brad any differently would be to have her treatment of Brad witnessed by the owner of this weenie world. I don’t believe that Ann has done anytrhing wrong – outside of her office. The only way this can end is with Brad unemployed again. Gad! – He might actually have to get into his car to go to a job.

Simple – report her for fire code violations. As an ex-restaurant/bar worker there is not any in the world that don’t break some fire code violation. If Toni does this enough the Big Weenie of Weenie World will fire Ann.

Incidently, the Big Weenie of Weenie World is probably making 248 million dollars a year while Brad is being paid at or below minimum wage. And to be fair to Ann, it is probably the unwritten policy that those fire codes are broken in order to squeeze out a few more cents profits. So what if patrons die in a horrible blaze or Awful Ann loses her job or Brad makes barely enough to live on – the Big Weenie has to make his 2 million dollar Christmas Bonus somehow.

How in any way is Dirk a “REAL” man? He’s a lying, manipulating, abusive dirt bag. Kind of like Ann, except he’s got enough muscle to take someone (aka, Toni) out if he got angry enough. At least he was a dirt bag. And I wouldn’t take a second chance on him just to find out whether he really was changed or not. Brad is sweet, kind, a little clueless, but he honestly tries. He loves Toni and lets her know, even if they’re not on the same wavelength all the time. Brad is the better (or “REAL”) man here.

You know, the fact is that, thus far, Brad hasn’t put up with anything from Ann that would brand him a coward or a traitor to his girl. She has been unpleasant to both of them, but has not crossed any lines that a court would recognize. He has recognized her nastiness, but tolerates it to keep his job and remain independent. He doesn’t need Toni to protect him from the nasty boss. TJ said it best: he voluntarily takes it ‘cause he needs the job, and he’s entitled to do so. But Ann IS trying to horn in on Toni’s territory, and Toni’s equally entitled to give her what for!

It’s private property. Businesses can ban people from their stores. For example, Mall of America will ban people who don’t follow mall rules. If they come back, they can be arrested for trespassing.

OK, if Elwood “owns” WW, and he is friends with T.J., and T.J. is friends with Brad, how about…T.J. has let Elwood know what is going on with Ann’s manipulations, and is encouraging Toni to bring the withch down. He succeeds in geting Toni to confront Ann in the public part of WW while Elwood is in a booth or at a table (have I seen either of these depicted? I don’t remember). Ann goes postal on Toni in front of other customers and Elwood lets his persence be known, and who he is, and fires her.

The other scenerio is that management (Elwood) sees that Ann is successful in her job, and that her WW is making money for the corp. and makes her a corp. training officer with a traveling allowance, removing her from Pittsville, sending her around to the various operations. Ann is the type, in my mind, who would thrive and rise in the higher corporate world.

Brad may get his firefighter job back, but I do not see that happening any time soon. Elwood might see some potential in Brad to run WW at that location, and give him a shot at it.

    Watcha all think?

You say you’re serious when you say “I seriously don’t recall any banning.” I think you do, but you insist on the actual printed statement. Sometimes you just need to pretend to understand that you can interpret what a person means when they use different words. On August 5, 2011 Greg has Ann say to Brad “…You’ll tell your lady friend not to come here.” I think that’s pretty clear, but just for fun let’s say that NOT ALL of what Ann says to Toni is printed in our daily strips – WOW, what a surprising thought! At any rate, I think Greg has Toni thinking the right thing when she says today “She banned me from the place.”

Ok, let’s just pursue this a little further before I sign off. You say, “Toni wasn’t a customer; she never bought anything.” But the August 1, 2011 strip shows her sitting at a table with a burger and a drink. I agree that there is no specific proof that she bought the food, but since Brad is surprised to see her, and we can’t see if anybody else is at the table, it seems to suggest that Toni IS a customer and that she PROBABLY bought the food.
