I guess the players in this strip will never get the opportunity to grow up into adulthood…..I was kinda hoping for a transition to a “For Better or Worse” kind of timeline….even if it takes ten more years for her to turn 21.

@ blunebottle – How about two more years to turn 18? “For Better or Worse” broke ground in this respect. Family comics don’t all have to be like “Blondie.”

Feels like an episode of The Twilight Zone, doesn’t it, Luann? I suspect those passion-lite semiromances are probably more common than you think….

sure are a lot of snarkish people on here (can I say that on TV?) -doesn’t anyone just enjoy reading the comics for the sake of reading them? Good grief! Do you folks gripe about the novels you read as well? (presuming of course, that you read novels -when you have time).

And now, another observation for the “You Know You Really Need A Life When…” files,

#39: “You Know You Really Need A Life When… You constantly bemoan, groan, complain or cry (or insert your favorite synonym, here) about how a comic strip is or isn’t going for the characters in the strip.”

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program.

Luann isn’t nearly as mature as Hilary Forth.

Luann fills that crucial niche between Hi and Lois and The Born Loser.

Please do not bring up “For Better or For Worse.” I still cannot get over how Lizardbreath chose to marry Anthony, especially seeing how he was a complete jackass to her earlier.

You’re right Simpson, there’s more action in “Family Circus.”

Luann – you mean like this doesn’t seem real – somewhat contrived? Say it isn’t so. But maybe that’s what most teens feel, at least some of the time.

Reminds me of that Val Kilmner parody movie where he’s telling his love interest that there has to be more to what’s happening than ‘this’ or it would just be a bad movie…then they both look at the camera.

Geez. I think this is a perfect Sunday comic for Evans to produce! It helps the Sunday only readers stay abreast of the basic developments in the story line. And, it is IMHO Evans nod to all the rather absurd comments here about the need for “racier” romances and Brad and Toni living together etc. Let us be a bit realistic… even though those things do happen, that is not typical in a newspaper comic. I think Mr. Evans is very dutifully and very successfully walking the line between reality and fiction in terms of his story lines. Bravo, Greg!!!!! Keep up the great work!

A lifeless and boring family comic strip lacking any resemblance to real human behavior. Even Tiffany’s reality check bounce was anticlimactic.

For Better or Worse is more interesting and humorous because it is more realistic.

Just a reminder that its just a comic strip. I remember in the 80’s a couple of comedy shows made fun of them selves too. The line would go something like, “This is real life. What do you think this is? A Comedy TV show or something?”

Today’s “Sally Forth” was about people never aging in their strip. Now if “Luann” was on-line only, maybe there’d be a bit more action. I spoke to Greg Evans at ComicCon and he said there’s just so far you can go.

Time travels differently in fantasy land. Some never seem to age even though their hair and clothing styles and toys do. I think M*A*S*H even had more Christmases than we were involved in the Korean Conflict.-Consider how Beetle Bailey’s attitude made sense if he were a conscript, but not if he joined the Army willingly. At least they’re still using Jeeps even though nobody else in the military does.

Hey you guys leave Mr. Evans alone on this strip! It’s his strip & he’ll decide how it’ll end. It would stink if Luann decides to Marry Aaron Hill and that’s it. I want to enjoy this ride! Also, I think this is why Brooke McEldowney (9 Chickweed Lane) doesn’t want critcism in his strips.

I’ve always liked Gunther as a character because he’s different. He knows who he his & what he isn’t. I never see him trying to pick up girls stating he was Brad Pitt’s brother. So what he sews too. My late mother taught me how to sew and I learned some more in AF Boot camp. Someone like the owner of the Men’s Wearhouse make money.

And as for Gunth being gay, give me a break!! I think Mr. Evans wants to show his readers that it’s good to see what’s in the heart, not put on like comestics. I feel Gunther likes Luann similar to a recent Joe Nicoles country hit, “Give me that girl”.

Finally, I think Mr. Evans wants his readers to wonder what happens at the end of a story. Shoot! I never seen Lucy Van Pelt go out with Schoeder at the end of the “Peanuts” comic strip. Sparky ended that strip good, but it’s sad Charles Schulz is gone.

I’m not sure if Evans has acknowledged anything. It could be taken that way, but unless he comes right out and says it, there’s a lot of wiggle room. As for kissing, Luann and Quill just engaged in a fair bit of snogging not many days ago.
