Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for July 28, 2013
Transcript:
Dad: "Good morning! Boy, I sure didn't sleep much. Too excited about today!" Luann: "Today? What's today?" Dad: "You kidder! Like you haven't been planning for weeks! It's parents' day! I can't wait to open all my cards and gifts!" Dad: "So when do the festivities begin? Are the gifts piled in the living room?" Luann: "Does a parent making wisecracks deserve gifts?" Mom: "No, only the one making an omelet"
I don’t intend this to be controversial (in terms of shoving things in people’s faces, as some would feel about it), but I find it interesting that the Bible says that when we give, it shouldn’t be under compulsion, but willingly…. ==It’s good to show our loved ones care, not always in “elaborate” gifts (in a relative manner of speaking), but in the things that really matter to them… to show them love and care each day… it’s better to show them for many days through the year, than to give a material gift on the one “compulsory” day, almost seeming to have been “arbitrarily decided upon”….
