Bernice lets us know (1) that Moony Uni is “across town”, so it’s in Pitt, and (2) even so, she will be staying in a dorm room instead of in her parents’ house. Will Luann be the only cast member still living at home next year, or will Gunther continue living with Mom (for the next 45 years)?

I hope these girls remember that they still have most of their senior year of high school to finish first. If they start ignoring the present by becoming preoccupied with the future, this could be a rough year.

And, yet again, Denise with the Snark! :-)

As @seismic-2 says, we now have an idea as to the location of Moony Uni. So it isn’t all that far away, and at least some of the kids can still band together at a common gathering place… maybe WW or some similar eatery. I guess we’ll see.

Does anyone get the feeling, though, that this “OMG, we’re graduating… What will we do now?” discussion is a bit pre-mature for this group? I’d have thought there could be more discussed in re: their senior year, completing requirements, how college applications/interviews are going, etc… This seems more like a discussion you might have later on in the year after all that other stuff is done.

I’m just wondering what Greg/Karen may have in store for us in the shorter term that would mandate this kind of discussion immediately, as opposed to other things that make more sense to discuss presently.

Yeah, the whole topic of conversation around the time of the pool party was that their upcoming senior year would be really great because they would rule the roost at school and have a great time, but since then their senior year at school has been largely ignored in favor of Bernice’s job at school, Luann and Tiffany’s job after school, quill and Gunther at home, and especially looking ahead to what happens next year. It’s as if their current school year is just an afterthought.

Very, VERY Noble. And Unless He Follows Her Down There, Most Opportune, For Gunther.

That Is, Unless Greg Evans decides to Write Him, Out of the Strip, too.

In Which Case Some of Us May feel Compelled to Camp Out on Greg’s Front Lawn in Protest, Singing Gaw-Awful “Folk Songs” and Throwing Frisbee, until Gunther Returns, So Be WARNED!

I’m with Luann on this. Aging and maturing in the comics is rare enough, and when done well, keeps things fresh. I’m sure this strip will pull it off with aplumb. Still, I enjoy reading about this particular group and those few postcards are gonna be bittersweet reminders of how it was. But, life (even comic strip life) goes on!

“Bernice is hinting, after high school, she won’t be in touch with her current friends.”-I don’t get that at all. I’m seeing that she is bummed about staying in Pittsville. Perhaps her family can’t afford to send her out of town. And here is where Quill is happy to go. But for him it is halfway around the world. Wouldn’t it be fun for Bernice if she could stay at Quill house and go to school in Australia?

Let’s not get ahead of the story here. Rosa is not yet in the Peace Corps, much less Ecuador; Delta has yet to apply to Howard, much less be admitted and able to afford D.C. And good old Bernice will still be in town, just living (sensibly) on-campus and enjoying the MU social world. There’s still a long way for all of these young ladies to go before they split up….

Why would Quill be able to move into a dorm with Bernice? He’s only working at Moony Uni during the winter break, he hasn’t even applied, yet Bernice has at least a pending scholarship.Besides, he can save on room and board by staying on at Gunther’s should he actually be accepted, and a twenty mile commute is nothing.

So Moony Uni is “across town”. Berni is staying in town but in a dorm room, and Quill is staying at Gunth’s and going to Moony. Luann is staying in town and going to CC.

By “Break the chains! See the world!”, Bernice apparently means “See anyone other than you people, whom I hope never to see again,” since she’s going to be moving into a dormitory even though she’s attending a 4-year college on the other side of town. Clearly she hopes to start hanging out with a new (better) crowd once she starts at Moony Uni.

Looks like the girlfriends Will be scattered to the four winds… I was surprised that Rosa was going to go to Ecuador first, and attend college later. Hmmm, perhaps she’ll meet her special man there… Delta’s pick of Howard University is really a great pick as she’ll have so many opportunities to shine there. Why Bernice is going to have a dorm room instead of being a commuting student from her own town is puzzling. A dorm room costs a Lot of money…she Will have to get a full ride. Good for Luann…often it is best to attend a community college first, and so be better prepared for the intense learning curve that happens during one’s junior and senior years. Also, she will have more clarity as to what her gifts and desires Actually are… ;)
