Knute: "I always dug it when you wanted us to write stuff!"
Mr. Fogarty: "Knute, when I ask for a three-page report, that's exactly what I expect!"
Knute: "I did write three pages, Mr. Fogarty!"
Mr. Fogarty: "I don't call the back of a gum wrapper a page!"

Y’know? Knute kinda looks like “Punk Rock”, from that show “Hero Hight”, on the “Kids Super Power Hour”, as shown here ….. – Knute dug it when they had writing assignments, so he could practice his “crooked letters”, and those “counting” thingys…His favorite letter was Pickle….

These Fo-getty flashbacks are such a bummer I wonder what message Evans is trying to send beyond “filler”?

Knute in the past still has that annoying grin; he even looks ridiculous in that get-up compared to his get-up in the present.

I have to admit, I feel like I am slogging through mud here…I am so looking forward to Greg’s being able to come up with current events such as high school graduation once he is fully recovered (which sounds like he already is). In the meantime, however, I sort of get a giggle…real sort of…about this week’s “arc.” This has given me a lot of time to visit other strips, too, such as Calvin and Hobbes where Calvin thinks a burglar stole his tiger friend, Hobbes. And, Brdshtt, I guess I’ve already filled out your form LOL!
Guess I’ll wander around the Editorial Cartoons for awhile, and, as Samuel Pepys (1633-1703) once said, “And so to bed.” ’Nite all… ;)

We had a teacher, orchestra, who started teaching with us and retired when we graduated. We knew his family, but we didn’t know he had been taking classes, too.
He became a counselor and lost his life to leukemia while we were in college.
Thank you Mr.Lewis for teaching us to play instruments and to live.

I am sorry to hear of Greg’s health issues, but in this world of what are you doing for me now, the natives are getting restless. Get well quick please.

ORM & Hthe D: Baseball Cap Info -*Last week, to keep my hair down in the wind, I put on a baseball cap for the first time this year. It blew off as soon as I stepped outside. Put it on & caught it as it again flew off. Wised up, put in on BACKWARDS, and it stayed on for the next hour!*Lesson learned: wearing a cap backwards may be the smart thing to do, wind-wise. However, wearing a cap indoors is impolite whether it’s bill forward or bill back.

-when I was in grade school-Back there in the dinosaur days when I was in grade school, we were not only required to give valentines to all our classmates if we brought them in, but we were not allowed to give anything to the teacher. At the end of each year, we could give the teacher a small, ‘nonpersonal’ gift. Thus was born the ‘apple for the teacher’….

Never.

In H.S. I took a pop quiz on a rolling paper once. The teacher rolled her eyes, told me next time to ask for a sheet of real paper, took out a loupe and graded it. I aced the quiz, of course.

RB – A belated “thanks” for sharing those strips yesterday with Mr. Fogerty dressed as Elvis and Miss F. dressed as a hipster. I hadn’t seen those before!
JayBluE over 10 years ago
Yeah.. when Mr. Anderson planted the “evidence”, either he really needs some daily affirmations, or he must really subscribe to the maxim “repeat something often enough and everyone will believe it” (except maybe the mirror, Lol!)

Or for some cases, it’s shades of “..♪Young teacher, the subject of schoolgirl fantasy♪..”
“♪…just like the ’old man in that book by Nabakov…♪”
But in reverse, though….

Nice of Knute to show some semblances of life and memory. I thinks the kids appreciated Fogarty more than he realizes.

You should see their, uh.. “stats”…

In looking at their “tracks”, I would conclude that this was done “accidentally on purpose”. A few other strips have similar posts by this same person. A bit “Manson like”, almost. As much as we go on about “incoherence” of certain posts here, it’s not anywhere near this sort.
JayBluE over 10 years ago
“I think that poster forgot to take the “left turn at Albuquerque”! ;-)” ^
Not if you look at the posts they left on other strips! Different ones, but the same manner.
JayBluE over 10 years ago
This poster was from ‘10, and they were on “Shoe” and a couple of others, today. If you know “Veteran”, you can ask him if he’s aware…..

“You don’t suppose it’s really Donny Wallace, do you?” ^ I’d acquiesce to our resident “Donnyologist” on this one.
JayBluE over 10 years ago
Maybe. So was the “sheet rock” comment on “Half Full”. But yet not. They start off one way, then “stray off” a bit. But look at “Thatababy” or “Dude And Dude”.

So, it has come time to put the old “professor” out to pasture. It’s nice of the “kids” to do such a thing, but it makes for some rather dull reading. This seems to be in line with the equally mundane Prom Night (non)-events. I don’t have the time to read every posting on this site, but from what I have seen, there are other readers who, like myself, had higher expectations of the depiction of the teenage experience.

Also, we know that Graduation is coming up— it is probably not worth getting one’s hopes up for anything significant to occur…

One of my uncles had that very form printed up on business card stock in the early seventies.(And an 8 pt font would allow me to print something GoComics wouldn’t want to see published.)

“Has anyone else on this board seen students give valentines to teachers?”-—————————————————I gave Valentines to my teachers in grade school because I DID appreciate them.(it wasn’t until middle school that I actually had a crush on one, a la Linus in Peanuts .)
