Better let Luann be excuse herself to the bathroom, professor, so she can get the paint off her face and clothes before it hardens and stains even further.

I always love a shout out to Charles Schulz.

Well at least this lecture is coherent this time.

Looks like Ze-bo chose the “Freddy Jones” look from “Scooby Doo”…with a touch of “Mr. Furley” from “3s Company”… – Perhaps “Jock-o” was busy humming this catchy tune from the Cars…. – Between “Emo”, Luann and “Jock”, there seems to be a combination of something blue, something yellow, and something red (or alternatively perhaps a bit of the “CMYK” [Cyan,Magenta,Yellow and ‘Key/Black’])… – Bob Ross would have comforted them all, by explaining that it was really just a “happy accident”….

Well, according to the Peanuts strip from 3/26/72, Sally asked some pretty thought provoking questions.. –

How did we get from paper mache to paint?
Angelalex242 over 9 years ago
By that point, I think the teacher wants to hang her from a coathanger.
sarafaye over 9 years ago
I would have dropped that class long before this.

To loosely quote Bond, The bottle was “shaken”, but Luann was the one that was “stirred”…
Argythree over 9 years ago
Wouldn’t a normal person check to see if the lid was on securely before shaking a bottle? (and why is it necessary to shake a bottle of paint, when there are usually little sticks available to stir the paint?)-One thing is likely as a result of this mess. ‘Mr. Jock’ is less likely to become Quill’s replacement. Let’s hope Luann can find someone new who isn’t a dunce, and doesn’t enjoy making fun of her.-Or, at the very least, let’s hope that Luann changes her seat in this alleged ‘class’ so she can sit near someone who is worth hanging with…

Zebo’s started off his lecture today with one statement tucked away inside seven questions. Who’s supposed to be teaching whom here?

Today’s Luann had a good start. However the slot machine went Bar – Bar – Lemon…

Hey, Zebo, go back to looking at yourself in the mirror!
Sisyphos over 9 years ago
Zebo prattles on, while a significant portion of his class dabbles on its own. This seems about right..Sorry, Luann. Never wear your good clothes to a studio art class (look at Zebo the Clown!)

Can a child create art? Someone other than Tony Rubinois doing it for Daddy’s Home! LOL. AND THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING!!

Luann chooses larger panels. She could take any two rows of the three, and I believe for her space allocation its meant to be the bottom two. She would be short a little of the space, but not as much as was implied. There are some modern day cartoonists who do more inspired Sunday strips (Frazz) as well as the “old” format like Shulz had.
That said, I would love to see more space on offer. Individual cartoonists may not want it (and in fact I think that the top row of strips like Shulz’s gets cut off in some newspapers, because I have seen “both versions” of some. But for those that do, cool. And maybe some of the rest could support a few more new strips. I’m delighted Dana Simpson is getting a chance, but I’d like to see a few more as well!

To quote THIS strip from Peanuts is brillant !
I always admired Sally´s way of arguing there.

Greg’s very lucky that his weekly paycheck isn’t based on the quality of the Sunday cartoons alone, or he’d be very hungry this coming week.

It is art. Being slathered with blue paint improves Ms Inner Beauty’s outer beauty no end.

they’re using tempera paint in college art classes?

Oh God, Colonel Zebo invades the Sunday Strip. He must be stopped before he takes over the world.
This might sound like a lighthearted comment but I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, hate Zebo and will be glad when next semester rolls around!

cubswin2016 over 9 years ago
I don’t like that teacher at all.
BeniHanna6 Premium Member over 9 years ago
And that’s the trouble with modern art. As long as some rich moron latches on to some “Artist” and sponsors them, any one or thing can be a “Artist”. Good examples are the passing off of ape painting in the mid twentieth century as work by talented human “Artists”.

If you can call it art and get somebody to part with good $$ for it, it’s art. That’s the only definition that seems to apply anymore.

That’s a winning comment if I’ve ever seen one.

1) Zebo appears NOT to be wearing a shirt. So how does he get black cuffs?2) Did Zebo hand out the paint bottles? If so, it’s sad Lu gets pink and Jock gets blue— he must be an unimaginative sexist. However, he has a sense of humor in giving Emo sunshine yellow. Or perhaps they chose the colors themselves (comments are the same)

…it occurs to me that…the negative comments about Zebo…are a result of evoking unpleasant memories of former teachers of the commenter…
RSH over 9 years ago
funny how Zebo is talking about the Shulz cartoon in which Sally actually got a grade. Zebo just has his students destroy their work while he invents some lofty rationale for it, so that he doesn’t have any grading work to do.
Goblinopolis over 9 years ago
I believe any piece that makes you ask a question can be considered ‘art,’ even if that question is, “Why would anyone pay for this crap?”
