Makes one wonder how much longer is Luann doing to be a dependent.

How that Luann is a college student shouldn’t the Sunday strips reflect this and not be rehashes of 30 year old gags from her middle school days?

BEB01: As I often say during the dailies, these Sunday strips are often the best of the series!

During the week, Luann’s room is clean. Only on Sundays does she have a dirty room. I have found many instances of Luann cleaning at home and at work, but only during the week. I wish Luann bashing would stop.

The posters on the door are cute. I think Luann should go into art or something similar. She’s very right brained.

When is Luann going to move out already!! Maybe after she gets her own house she’ll start caring a little more like how Brad was when he first got his house. Actually, now I’m beginning to wonder how they’re doing now (brad and Toni)

Yes, Nancy, it is, especially when you have to fold them by yourself after you’ve washed and dried them (and ironing them? Forget it!)

Nancy has yelled so much at Luann to clean her room that Luann has tuned her out.

It’s interesting that today’s Luann Againn is about Father’s Day, but Luann isn’t.

Luann may live with Mom & Dad until she’s 21. However – once she hits the bars – it’s Mom & Dad on Sunday and Thanksgiving…

Ringo. Yeah. Context is everything. As with any huge and complex text, one can take this group of examples to prove one point of view and that group of examples to prove another, even an opposite view. It’s taking the whole of it, her portrayals over the years, that allows us to see her as a complicated but ultimately good person. The context is Luann whole, not Luann at any given moment. Many use the pick-and-choose technique to distort other texts, the Bible, for example. The use of selected verses to demonstrate one point while ignoring others that present a different view is called “proof texting.” Shakespeare called out this very kind of selective reading in “The Merchant of Venice” when he has Antonio say, “The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.” That’s a reference to Satan tempting Jesus by quoting Scripture to him in Matthew Chapter 4. The moral of this whole comment, Ringo? Don’t be like Satan. Just sayin’.

A- Yes, it should have been somewhat Father’s Day related and B- the messy room has been way over done. I can’t believe this lame strip is what we got for today. Poor Frank, he deserved a shout out.

Stop the lame “Luann’s messy room” cartoons, Greg. She’s too old for this. Make these cartoons more age appropriate.

JimJonzz: I’m always uncomfortable when people compare the Bible to fiction, but I get your point and agree. SallyMargaret: I didn’t realize it, but you’re right; Luann’s room on Sunday is different than during the week.

Returning to the week, I noticed yesterday how everything ended on a “whimper.” Tiffany is not going out with Les , but she’s not going out with Gunther , either. Clearly, there is a relationship growing between Tiffany and Gunther , but it does seem more brother-and-sister than anything else. Major clue: Gunther is okay with Tiffany dating other men, his only objection was Tiffany dating Les .

She can keep her room anyway she likes, until it starts attracting bugs and ants. Then it affects the rest of the family. No eating in the bedrooms is a good rule.

Nancy, you’re the parent and Luann is college age. Tell her she either cleans up the mess or she gets a dorm room at her own expense. The last thing you guys need is a cockroach infestation.

Is Luann a freshman in high school or in college? (Yes I know the technical answer.) Is she thirteen or eighteen? Are we supposed to find her adorable, or remotely cute? She reminds me a little of another immature female lead, Sedine, in the comic InSecurity. (She (Sedine) is 22 but acts more like a ADD drama queen 15 year old. And she’s married to a grown up. But I digress.) Wouldn’t it be fun to have a bit of eccentricity in these tired domestic humor cliches? What if she adopted a python, or decided to go a little emo, or flirted with another girl…. Messy room – irate parents – wry comments. Yawn. Maybe I’ll go back to bed !

Maybe Greg has Sundays drawn in advance (like the rest of the week) so that he can enjoy his own Sundays? Just a thought. Happy Father’s Day, Greg!

I remember a great line in the movie “Baby It’s You.” Rosanna Arquette invites a guy into her college dorm room: “It’s small but it’s ugly.”

    @JayBluE (from yesterday):

Went back to Friday’s comments and finally found your response. (I had looked at the wrong post!)

And now, pinch-hitting for JB, I submit the following:

“Messy Beaucoup” (I know I did that on Friday, but it fits here, too)

    “Crumb What May”

    “Don’t Bed On It”

    “I Plead The Filth”

    “Mess Appeal”

Frank’s response to Nancy is cautiously guarded. He has learned his position on the family totem-pole. But Luann gets away with defying Nancy. Gotta respect living dangerously….

You Know Nancy? Maybe Luann enjoys living in Primitive, Squalid Conditions. Which Makes “Caveman Jack,” the Perfect Mate for Her, for Now.

On the other hand, take a peek at the April 8th 2009 Strip, where Luann addresses THIS very issue, while Helping Gunther and His Mom, when Ma Berger had a broken leg. Too Bad Greg didn’t follow up on THIS story-line….,

This is a Sunday life’s foible toon for Luannverse, and Luann. To sum up, a messy room, driving particularly a mom nuts, is not a reason to dislike a person. If that is the case, the majority of kids would be objects of abject hate. To say otherwise, in the real world, or Luannverse is positively absurd.
