Okay, I’ll Say It. I was Uncharacteristically Wro, Wro, WRONG, about Tiffany Slamming the Door in Gunth’s Face.

Now, provided Tiff didn’t snatch Gunth in order to beat the living Crap Outta Him, then THIS is an EXCELLENT Development!

Well… this does surprise me a little.

It will be very interesting to see where they take it.

YES, ARRGH!!!!! someone else here said it yesterday. it seems that at least Yawnther started right. UnlessTiff is afraid of the “weesome threesome.” and trying to hide him. when she finds out they sent him he may end up jettisoned out of her room.

Well Gunther it is after all, and Tiffany she can, with Gunther quite anxiously. What does Monday bring I wonder? Game in Gunther’s court: does this mean his kindness to TIffany before, and his rather peevishly getting her to confront herself, will help him (very iffy) be more assertive, and less passive-aggressive, and her more confident, healing, and a new person? Or will Greg have us in a totally new arc, leaving us hanging? ARRGHH, please no, this is NOT getting boring.

Awww…I don’t know what just happened but I get the feeling it’s kind of sweet!

Is Gunther gonna be a Daddy?

Hahaha nice.

I suspect Tiff yanked Gunth in to help her out with an issue that, at this point, no one has a clue about. I don’t think romance is possible but hey, nothing is impossible…..just highly improbable.

Nope, Folks. We’ll switch to the crime at the Fuse. And hang wondering about Gunth.

You know, I envisioned this exact scene yesterday. If I had posted my prediction, I would appear to be prescient.

Gunther, about that pair I was hoping you’d grow…well now would be the time.

And thus endeth the life of Gunther Berger:

1. Having been consumed live by a university girl who got confused by his last name and assumed he was a burger.

2. Having lost his clothing to a university girl who wanted to wear clothes that were even less attractive than gray sweats.

3. Having lost his voice as a university girl’s massive hand grasped his throat in a desperate attempt to stop him from whining and complaining.

4. Having discovered that Gunther’s bones break easily in the cowgirl position.

5. Having died as a mercy killing because he made the fashion faux pas of wearing white socks after Labor Day.

Good call on seeing the white socks.

Time again for our depression state of mind knowledgeable Supreme Comnentariat members to approach the podium.

1. The only reason Tiffany opened the door the first two times is because she wanted it to be Gunther.

2. Puffy eyes and the softer “what” could mean that Tiffany is in a relaxed or diminished state of mind.

3. If Tiff wanted Gunther, she never thought to call him. Could this be taken as diminished reasoning?

4. In her state of mind, Tiffany grabbed Gunther today because she has no inhibitions and did herself today what she wanted Gunther to do three months ago.

Could it be? Gunther is the father of her unborn child?

Is it just me or does it look like Tiffany has a bad case of “Man Hands”?? Kinda scary! LOL

Time to perform Gunther.

Well, this story has a, ahem, happy ending.

But of course. She didn’t want the girls. She wanted her friend, Gunther. Him, she is happy to see. She trusts him and can confide in him and she needs his shoulders. She knows Gunther doesn’t care about how she looks – he looks beyond that when most guys don’t. He is precisely what Tiffany needs.

So Sunday Frank & Nancy discuss painting Cafe Kablooie a different color. Monday Tara meets Jonah and falls for him (Nooo !!!!)

Tiff will show Gunth why he needs a girlfriend…

…and he was never seen or heard from again.

And i get called dumb and creepy 2 days ago for suggesting that what is about to happen is what needs to happen. It’s college, people.

Well Gunther I hope you’re well rested, had your coffee, etc, because Tiff wants to talk. You need not say a word, in fact shut up. Just stay alert, look like you are listening.

And you just may survive. I know – been there done that.

Awwww! That’s sweet. That’s who she needed to see. The ensuing conversation should be quite interesting.

Reaching out to the only friend she has. Sad.

Monday may go back to Bern and friends and leave us wondering when the story will go back to Gunther and Tiffany.

How do we know she actually put on pounds?

What is Gunther’s problem? Is he autistic? Asperger’s? What?

Before JayBluE gets here (if he does, at this point), I’d like to offer the following “titles”:

Good. At least One friend to lean on. Let the rehab begin. And who knows maybe a little romance spliced in for Gunther for caring.

Monday: single panel no dialogue. Kiss. Wide eyed Gunther looking at Tiff.

Tuesday: single panel almost completely filled with Tiffany telling everything from weight gain without eating more to new makeup to depression to why didn’t Daddy call to why didn’t Gunther call to have you seen my cellphone it may be under a pizza box. Gunther appears, very small, in the lower right hand corner with wide eyes looking at dialogue.

A very interesting development. I don’t know which way Greg/Karen will take this, but it will be interesting to see. At this point, though, I think I’m going to err on the side of caution… that there won’t be any “activity” immediately. Tiff has some issues to resolve, first, and Gunther is the only one she trusts to help her with them, it seems.

Hang in there, both of you!

The way she grabbed Gunther you would think he was a mega pizza.

Just what Tiffany wanted and needed. The reason could be a number of things, but I am betting she needs Gunther’s sympathetic ear and needs to let it all out. Which he will let her do in a mostly non-judgemental way.

Did I see some horns in that dark room?

No one in this strip ever gets in the family way, do they?

I’m not sure why people are surprised. Everything up to this point has shown Tiffany actually liking and trusting Gunther. She went hiking with him, he put mud on her legs, and then they studied together with her in her bathrobe, remember? And, with Chrystal nowhere to be found, he appears to be her only actual friend.

It’s amazing that Gunther still hasn’t figured out how important he’s become to Tiffany. He’s about to find out, I imagine.

The last time they met, he said stuff that caused her to have an epiphany of self realization. She didn’t like what she saw, ergo the depression. He’s exactly who she needs right now, to make her realize what a positive development this really is for her.

Monday: Luann wonders why it’s been so long since Gunth went into Tiff’s room. Bernice opines something about taking through depression and that takes a while. Des just stares at the other two in bewilderment.

If Tiffany tears Gunther’s arms off (I always thought she was part Wookie) he’s going to need a doctor.

If Tiffany tears off his clothes he’s going to need advice.

not sure what this means, but i was hoping to be surprised, and i am.

My guess is Monday we go back to Ann’s lingerie party.

Might be able to eliminate two of the five possibilities i listed yesterday. we’ll see.

Maybe Tiffany is just desperate for someone to talk to, and that’s all she has in mind.

Tiffany has pulled in a lifeline … and his name is Gunther!

Clearly, Tiff wants to talk … with Gunther, not with those three harpies (as she probably sees Luann, Bernice, and Dez).

You can drag a horse to water, but you can’t make Gunther have sex with a woman. He’s just not able to.

The force is thrumming today with speculation.

Early morning and at 170 comments already. So, no, I haven’t read all of them. // Am I the only one thinking, perhaps we are cutting away for a month or so on this story? (If I were a writer, I think that’s exactly what I would do! Nothing like a little suspense, mind you)

The furthest thing from Tiffany’s mind is romance. She is hurting and desperate for a friend.

Tiff is a bit ditzy, but she’s not stupid. She’s not going to buy “Just happened to be in the neighborhood”. She knows how he got there. She’s too happy to see him to care. And the “three amigos” attempt to help was a bit ham-fisted, but I think their intentions were good. And they did finally arrive at the right answer: Send in Gunther.

You know, I’ve heard many people are saying that “Gunther might be a Daddy.” Well, it could be something else. I heard what Mr. Evans was saying in one of his books, "His books will give you a ride, but not too hard of a right. OK, it was something like that.

Anyway, it might not turn out the way we think of it now. Remember, when Gunth told Tiffany to “Stay away from Leslie Know, he’s trouble!” Well, Tiffany might’ve still went out with Leslie, “A one night love affair”, and now, Tifffany is PREGNANT and Leslie Knox is the Dad! Maybe that’s what Tiffany did she regrets and needs to tell Gunther and TIFFANY is now SORRY for what she did.

Meanwhile, Leslie is feeling all good for himself since he “got some and scored”. Also, Leslie doesn’t want any responsibility for what he has done. If I Tiffany’s dad, I believe he would put Leslie Knox in the hospital or morgue. We will find out what happens next week.

We could get a real Sunday surprise: A single frame – where we see the sun rising and Gunther walking home with a twisted smile and stars flying around his head.

“Gunther, I want you! NOW!!! "

He can’t help it if he’s so hot. It’s just a burden some of us must bear.

If Gunther doesn’t get “some” I’ll be shocked!

Now, that’s a segue!

Come on people! Get your minds out of the gutter. Tiffany needs a friend right now, not sex. They don’t have “that kind” of a relationship.

This is a family strip – but if only married couples do it, and none of the 19-20 year old college kids do it – we’re drifting away from the real world.

We can only hope that Gunther’s autism isn’t so severe that when Tiff starts to undress, Gunther exclaims, “Tiffany, you’re getting fat!”

Whatever Tiffany’s problem may be, it seems clear that it is not Gunther (unless—which I do not consider at all likely—she swept him in to commit mayhem upon him). It follows that she has a degree of trust in her “study buddy” that she does not in any of the girls—Luann, who cannot get past high school hatred; Bernie, the smarmy know-it-all fool; or Dez, well-meaning but not really close enough to Tiffany to be trusted the way Gunther is….

This makes no sense… If she was self-conscious, she would be upset at a guy seeing her like this, and certainly showing herself naked. If she was prepping for a movie, she has never had such a role, and is unlikely given we haven’t heard of her since Zeye. If pregnant, Gunther wouldn’t have been awkward like he hasn’t seen her in awhile. If she was depressed, she wouldn’t have invited him in, either. If she was interested in him, she would have kept him waiting while she cleaned herself up. This makes no sense…

I’m guessing Tiffany pulled Gunther in quickly so she could close the door. It’s hard to imagine that anyone in her condition would want to be seen. But Gunther is neutral and she needs to unload onto someone.

My least favorite option appears to come to fruition.

Gunther, who I feel was AT LEAST PART if not FULLY the cause of Tiffany’ s weight change and apparent sadness or depression…. HE is welcomed in with open arms and a closed door.

I feel disappointed.

Because of this turn of events, I am hoping Greg has this be a cliffhanger Saturday and a new arc starts Monday. I would much rather see another story arc rather than a “Gunther – The Man – The Hero” arc this seems to be becoming. His character, IMO, has not earned it.

I’m inclined to not read any more into this day’s strip than necessary. My first thought, though, was that something traumatic happened to Tiffany, leading to her change in conduct and appearance – not so surprised to slam the door on the trio. Dez hardly knows her, Luann and Bernice know her all too well, and there’s been plenty of friction between them. Will be surprising, I think, no matter how the story turns..but I do think it would be a little too easy to expect them to be intimate. I did chuckle at another commenter’s mention of ‘reverse cowgirl’ though. But Tiff wasn’t portrayed as promiscuous, just vain, before.

I suspect Monday we will be on a different arc.
