don’t get discouraged. Flunked calculus first time around, second time. got an A; graduated top man in math and physics. Sometimes it just doesn’t click the first time around.
Here’s the scenario I’d like to see.Gun and Bets tutor Tiff as she continues to work at the Fuze. All the long hours of work and study slim Tiff down again to the svelte woman she used to be. Something clicks, and she begins to understand math. Then she begins to excel at it, and is offered a scholarship. She registers several patents which produce royalties that make her wealthy in her own right, and with her new found wealth, she hires private detectives to investigate Ann Eiffel, who is served with arrest warrants and goes to prison. Tom tries to borrow money from her because Ann has bankrupted him. Tiff tells him to solve his own money problems because that will build his character. Tom takes a job working for Tiff as a bookkeeper.
Hey i’m thinking tiffany would appreciate the sweet gesture of les offering her a cute kitten to pet and relieve stress. But apparently some people here have their minds in the gutter. haha
As expected, Les Knox rears his Hideous head. No doubt he’ll renew his “offer” for Tiffany to (GAG/VOMIT) stay with “him.”
I can almost hear those rusty wheels a-turning in that noggin of his, on HOW to sell the idea to Gunny:
“Hey, WIMP! She can stay in My room! After all, I took the biggest Bedroom!”
“Say, Dweeb! Why don’t YOU move in with your squeeze, Bets, so Tiffany can have YOUR room? That way I can give Tiffany nightly (A-HEM) “belly rubs!”
Of course, BOTH lads may offer to make room for Tiff at the Gulag. Or better still talk Al and Irma into putting Tiffany up at the big house. The BAD part about THAT is Les has two opportunities to get to Tiffany, daily. At work and home. Plus Tiffany gain even MORE weight eating Irma’s delicious cooking.
Hopefully Gunther will tell Bets about Tiff’s problem. And hopefully she’ll let Tiff room with HER. Fingers crossed. But Vomit Bags at the READY.
As far as Tiff is concerned, Les sees the handwriting on the wall. He is giving her the seed kitty to start her on the path to becoming the crazy cat lady.
Tiff needs to get a job as a receptionist at a nice size business firm. With her looks , classy style and personality she will get noticed by employees and visitors. Opportunity will be knocking at her door.
Offering her the Kitty is cute, but not the point, which everyone seems to be whiffing on. She is drawn to come to her friends to sell her last items of clothing on EBay, while telling them her troubles. How this turns out, that is the point. I wonder if Bets is in the house btw. Anyway some kind of hilARITY ensues solution might occur.
Some hate Tiff, more hate Les and most everyone hates Ann Eifel. I think that is why this comic is so popular, the sympathy or non sympathy for the characters. In any case Tiff should move in with someone or Ann wins. She can handle Les, by the way.
Her daddy was paying for her dorm room while she was enrolled in school, and she was only being cut off for the summer. Now she has to pay her dorm bills all the time? That IS unfair.
Cuddle a cat is great for relieving stress, so bravo Les. But the problems remain and I’m glad that Tiffany tells Gunter everything and wants his advices.
Tiffany may move in with the guys but she will still have to pay rent and buy groceries etc. I’m beginning to fear myself that she will have to drop out of college and just work at The Fuse full time. Community College would be a lot less expensive and more tailored to her immediate needs and she could study cosmetology there so she could still work at a nail salon someday. Then she could get some practical business experience and maybe one day own one or more of them without having to get a business degree. I still maintain she’s SMART enough to get that business degree. But right now she is overwhelmed. I am wondering what will happen to her. And yes, Les is just offering the cat to temporarily calm her down. He’s not intending her to keep it.
Interesting that she spilled her concerns to Gunter immediately. There appears to be a special friendship between the two; at least subliminally in Greg’s psyche. Tiff owes Gunther big time for the terrible way she treated him in the past. Especially in light of the kindnesses he’s shown her.
Johnny Carson and Zsa Zsa Gabor are in the urban legend (the cat she brought to the show with Carson’s comment) which has been ruled as not having occurred (the cat was real, the Carson quip was not). However Jane Fonda brought it up in a subsequent Carson interview. Pretty funny. easy to find online.
WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. It’s actually proven that holding cats (and probably other pets) lowers blood pressure, relaxes the person, relieves stress … forget the medications, HOLD A KITTEN!! Trust me on this one.
This really illustrates how G-Rated this strip is, to the point of being completely unrealistic. If a Family Fued episode had a question called “As a teenager/early 20s adult, the best way to relieve stress is…”, the answer “pet a kitten” wouldn’t even crack the top 10. All the leading answers would involve sexual activity, mind-altering substances, comfort food, video games or even good old fashioned exercise. Evans really needs a refresher course on how actual young adults think. Though he got it right with Tiffany’s weight gain, so there’s definitely hope.
Well, it was Sigmund Freud who discovered the benefits of letting his patients pet his dog during sessions…
And while talking to Bets about studying is a good idea, talking to Gunther may be even better. Tiffany has known Gunther for years, so they are closer, making Gunther easier to talk to. She couldn’t talk to Bets about her grade. Gunther can offer some advice, and (if Tiff allows) talk to Bets on her behalf.
Tiffany’s greatest sin is her pride. And I am proud of her for going to someone she feels comfortable with for help.
In this day and age, Tiffany would have no trouble earning money on the side as an online influencer, maybe start a beauty/lifestyle vlog or stream to help support her.
I worked 20-40 hours a week during college, so that, coupled with a full load at school, meant I needed some good stress relief. Snuggling and playing with my cat is what worked for me. While having a cat did add to my budget, it also gave me a reason to keep pushing on, to give my cat a better life. I still remember buying my first house, for my cat!
A friendly kitten is a better stress reliever than the pizza and donuts that Tiff has turned to in the past. Interestingly, pets are new thing for each of these three.
OK, I was wrong. Tiffany’s inventory problem has nothing to do with Ann Awful, and everything to do with choices Tiffany has made. As Dragoncat and others suggested yesterday, Tiffany is getting a real-life lesson in microeconomics. I wonder whether she’ll make the connection, and whether that realization will help her do better in her class?
If it weren’t for the creepy look on Les’s face, I’d say that was a sweet gesture. Now, if he’s offering the kitten as a part-time stress reliever, great. Nothing like a kitty or a puppy to make you feel better. But certainly not as a full-time thing, which is expensive at best. And….why does Les have the kitty in the first place? Aren’t Al and Irma only fostering the kittens? When did it come to live with Gunther and Les? Or are they just kitty-sitting?
Did anyone notice that Les gave Tiffany “Punk,” the very kitten that tried to bond with Les? So my assumptions that he had no feelings for the cat are either correct, or (Heavens!) he actually has a soft spot for Tiffany.
Tiff looks good in panel 3. Those looks would have a positive effect on selling beauty products to other women who would also admire her looks. Forget the college thing, you’re just wasting money on a business major.

Someone called it the other day: Tiff should have gone to Bets, but she came here instead.
Is it because she thinks Bets is too good for her? And these two clowns are beneath her? (I think that was the gist of the comment the other day)
