And the mystery of Ben which was succeeded by the mystery of Jacques has been succeeded by the mystery of “MEOW” — Where is Scooby Doo when you need a mystery solved?
Where is Punk? He is meowing from somewhere. Unless they weren’t aware their car is a female and is hiding to give birth. Happened to a friend of mine…she thought her cat was a male when she got it as a kitten. She was startled to find her cat inside her closet with a litter of kittens. She was still a “kitten” – like a teenage human mom. My friend thought the cat simply hadn’t developed two telltale male genitals because it was still a kitten. Oops.
After an evening of gorging on veggie soup Bets heads for parts unknown, lending credence to the “haven’t done it” crowd. Interestingly, the G-man exhibits some testosterone in taking offense at Les’ presumed rude noise. Les isn’t ready to yield the field to “Gun” but the escalating conflict it quashed by a mysterious catlike wail!
Tune in tomorrow. When we hear Les say “I wonder what Bets would look like in a Catwoman outfit? Wrowrrr!”
Whoever called it – back to Gunther and Bets – have an invisible facsimile! The greatest thing you never saw! (Apologies to Chuck Shaden, radio host from Chicago)
Not sure how this is going to turn into a “feel good” Thanksgiving arc.
Especially since we know Bernice won’t be taking part in theirs.
And the ever disposable Ben has once again “ging verloren.“
Leslie Knox was a high school bully who threatened Gunther’s first Girlfriend, Rosa and Leslie threatened to beat Gunther for intervening.Bets meet Leslie on a dating app where Gunther created a fake profile. Bets was initially shock when she found out that Gunther and Leslie Knox were roommates. Bets was suspicious at first with Gunther until she realized that Gunther was authentic. Gunther still carry the resentment and like to punch Leslie. Unfortunate, Gunther’s mother married Leslie Knox`s Uncle Al Gray. Maybe, after Gunther graduate from university……….
Now normally, I’d say something like: “Hey! Don’t believe him, Gun! Les is throwing his voice and screwing around with your head! Push him out the nearest open window, and I’ll SWEAR to the Judge it was self defense!”
But I just got thru telling Tyge about “forgiving” Les’ evil mom, Ann Eiffel. And there’s been enough Hate this lousy, stinking, ROTTEN, year as it is.So in this season of Thanksgiving and with hope for a better, peaceful, more cooperative 2021, I’ll say instead that the “Cat is out of the bag.” And that Punk either being titillated by some secret gentleman/lady caller. Or she/he has somehow wedged himself/herself into the walls. And We are about to be treated to a fun-filled week of the lads demolishing the Gulag with sledgehammers, a-la TJ, in a frantic attempt to rescue the poor pus…, uhhh “cat.” Much to the chagrin of one, Master Al Gray.
But hey. As My most respected friend Luann1212 says, “Hilarity Ensues,” am I right?
Gunther? A few suggestions:
1) You might want to start meeting Bets at her place for change.
2) Never, Ever, EVER, leave your girlfriend alone again with your “roommate.” Especially to “cook.”
3) Bets is smart, gutsy, and beautiful, no doubt. In fact in that outfit, she reminded me of the old Tiffany Farrell from 3 years ago. But Gun? You might want to keep your eyes and your “options,” open. Just saying.
Happy Thanksgiving to EVERYONE. And EVERYONE Please stay Safe. ;)
Does Gunther not know that Punk is his third roommate. He is acting surprised that there would be a meow coming from inside the house. Even the look that Les is making looks surprised. Was Punk just a dream sequence.
Ah jealousy, that is not shown as possessiveness is a thing! Not that there isn’t a bit of possessiveness in Gun(ther) andBets, on both sides, although with Gunther it comes out if he has the tiniest inkling that his roommate might be thuggishly flirting with her. Alas it’s just the cat, ohh I wanna write a nasty double entrende about two cats, one having left the house, but nah I will keep it family friendly (lol).
I’m calling it now. Punk’s in a wall. And when they find him and pull him out, he’ll have found something fascinating and/or valuable that was tucked in there.
SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED TO LIL’ PUNK ? PLEASE NOOOOOOO !!!!!! However. Bets looks more and more beautiful at every new appearance (♡) and Gunther looks more and more in love and…. on the verge of fight with Les? I hope the cat emergency will help the two of them be a little more friends. And… I still miss Gunther’s three-day beard. He looked better with that.
No resolution to the Ben story arc. No resolution to the Jack story arc. If the prediction that Punk is in the vents proves true the poor cat may never be rescued. Or, in a surprise twist of fate we also find Ben and Jack caught in the vents.
Punk has gotten himself trapped somewhere; good that he is shrieking to get himself freed (cats do that). Les and Gun can follow the sound to his location. On another ote, I can’t help but notice that Bets says ‘miss me’ (like ‘you need to miss me’) as opposed to ‘I will miss you’. I could be wrong but it seems like the comment of someone who like the idea of having complete control over their significant other.
Here we see Gunther looking like a badass. Not sure he can back it up – but G & K have been known to surprise us. Knute didn’t do very well against Les. BTW – Bets looks hot. Good that we have comics – can’t say that about a real person anymore.
Apparently Gunther’s memory is failing. He seems to have forgotten all about Punk. He hears a “meow” and immediately accuses Les. The dialog should have read:
So, we’ve all pretty much figured out that Punk is trapped in the wall. Is punk actually a female and has now had kittens? If so, that would not explain just HOW she got pregnant, since I don’t think they allow her outside the house. But then, we don’t know that, do we? So I predict a week of trying to find exactly where Punk is and demolishing something to try to get her out.
Does anybody else remember that Twilight Zone episode where the little girl gets trapped in the wall in a whole other dimension? Do do do do….
I thought for sure this week would have had Luann inviteBben and possibly Berniece’s folks/ and nephews over for Thanksgiving as a way to try to force Berniece and Ben and to work things out. But maybe this is GnK’s way of subtly addressing the not allowing/encouraging different households to get together for Thanksgiving because of covid stuff. Although I hear Southern Cali Weather may be conducive to host small outdoor family gatherings. Glad i am not a betting person. Maybe if we are all good this year, GNK will get Ben and Berniece back together for Christmas.
Hmmm, I wonder if what Les thinks is in that box is really in the box. Is Punk hiding? Les wouldn’t look surprised if he knew Punk was in there, would he? Hmmm ;-)
Think about today’s strip structurally. Leslie and The Gun hear a cat meowing. It could be Punk. It could be another cat. It could be a Gray Parrot having fun with them. In any case how do you dol a four panel strip with just “Meow”? You can’t. So you add in some faux drama. Bets leaving and The Gun gets upset because he thinks Leslie is giving Bets the Wolf Whistle. Which doesn’t sound anything like “Meow” but never mind. After a panel of mindless junk (hem) waving. They both hear another meow. And they are stunned apparently because Punk has never meowed before. But without the fight over Bets there would have been just one panel in today’s strip with “Meow” overhead and the two men looking stupidly at each other. The fight gives substance to an otherwise pointless page.
Years before, I was in the kitchen while my aunt was roasting a chicken. She heard meowing and thought it was me. I kept telling her it wasn’t me. It turned out there was a cat outside. It had caught scent of the chicken and was hoping for a taste.
Gun, you and Les have a cat. Or maybe it’s Les’s cat. Anyway, a cat shares yours and Les’s living space. “Meow” was coming from the direction of the inside of your house, or so it seemed at the time. “Meow” is a sound that most cats make. Why the heck wouldn’t you, hearing “meow” coming presumably from the inside of your house, assume it’s Les insulting your girlfriend, instead of Les’s cat singing the song of his people?
