So who thinks she said something bad about Bernice on her old diary cassette ??

That would be my guess, and I’ve seen a few others suggest the same thing. The obvious subject, on the cassette, would be her pining for Aaron Hill. But I don’t think it will be that.

Fingers crossed that it ticks off Bernice enough that she decides to find a place of her own to stay. =)

Why do I get the feeling that when Luann was talking about cleaning her room a few days ago, this is what she was talking about.

Isn’t it interesting that, last arc, Luann was trying to help tutor a student (who was just stealing her suggestions) about how to write a diary from a famous artist (as part of a homework assignement) and now, here she is, trying to play her old diary. Is there a connection here?

Ah.

So Luann didn’t remove the batteries from her cassette player.

Lu? Try the old baking soda, water and q-tips technique on the battery terminals.

Then your only “worry” is whether the cassette tape will self-destruct when you finally power that relic up.

Speaking of “relics,” I found four old flip-phones while rummage thru our attic. Still looking for My wife’s once “futuristic” Sony Smart phone.

I seem to recall that suckers require four “D” cells. What household keeps D batteries on hand?

It’s very probable that the MC will be full of boring, dramatic and very sad thoughts about Aaron Hill. But maybe it’s like lvlax said and it goes back to a time when Luann was angry/worried about Bernice (like when she was madly in love with the older guy who turned out to be a drug dealer). Or maybe she will say something about Delta and finally the two will call her ♡. I hope it says something really interesting, but totally forgotten, and only a part. Enough to make them both look for the other MCs for the rest.

Look in drawers and on shelves for the AC adaptor or power plug that came with it.

So, like many movies and television shows, this arc will be a repeat/remake?

Hook it up to the battery in your car with some wires and gator clips. It will run better, faster, and stronger. Like playing Black Sabbath at 78 speed.

Putting your name, age, and that it’s a private diary right on the front label is a sure-fire way to get someone to listen to it… The contents, however?… Maybe she’s obsessing over Aaron Hill. Maybe she’s talking about but a big dumb oaf her brother is. Or maybe… Luann is going to talk about what a horrible witch Bernice is… Better listen to it in private first…

Forget it, Luann. That player is trashed. If the corrosion is so bad that it’s caked solid you are never going to be able to fix it. You probably shouldn’t even be touching it because battery acid corrosion is toxic. Take out the tape, throw the tape recorder away, and go buy another one on Amazon.

The player probably still works. The tape is brittle from not having been rewound for so long.

Luann is a comic strip character who truly grew with the times.

They’ll hear that LuAnn was a vapid, neurotic, scatter-brained airhead! Wait…

I just had to toss a flashlight that had so much corrosion inside you couldn’t get the battery out! It worked a short while ago.

Warning! Danger! Danger! Randy Travis sang a song about “digging up bones, exhuming things better left alone…”

use a cotton swab and vinegar to clean out battery corrosion and leakage.

Bernice is a b, again. Luann doesn’t notice, again.

So what does Bernice think will be difficult? Luann mentions cleaning out the corrosion. Don’t get this one.

I’m glad Bernice is not acting like a weird Muse again. That was hard to watch.

Be patient. Tomorrow will be a better day to predict from as it’s Wednesday. This no basis though for Bern to move; this is the story currently.

And she dumps it out on the floor. After she just cleaned her room? Oh wait – she’s in Bernice’s room, or the living room, or the kitchen LOL! But the player will work now, and she will hear her voice say “I love TJ”.

When Bernice said, “that will be difficult” did she mean listening to Luann’s diary when she was 13 or it would be difficult to clean it? I think the former is what she meant

One might say that in a way, Bernice reached “Nirvana” at the very end ;-)

In the real world that player is shot. When batteries leak that long and that much it destroys a lot.

A buck bet that at sometime the tape plays “…and Bernice is like the sister I never had.”

Gotta kinda agree with Bernie in this case. LuLu is entirely too happy at the thought of listening to her 13-year-old self on tape. It ain’t all that, Luann!

3rd panel Bernie looks so stiff, so bored, so cold, so “Bernice”. I much preferred her free spirited, loose-as-a goose impression of an artist’s muse flitting around the countryside.

I’ve always wondered if the end of the strip would be Luann listening to the recording she made in the first strip. Well, seems like they’re going down the cassette tape memory road now instead.
