I think it is great that Shannon has such a vivid imagination! I also think it is great that Greg & Karen keep Brad, Toni and Shannon around at least on Sundays!!!
Check out Spanky from the Little Rascals telling a story about Tarzan to the even littler kids. The short is called “Forgotten Babies” and it’s from 1933.
G&K have been “aging” Shannon bit by bit – the first clear sign being when she finally quit the “Bwad” thing. Now she’s missing a tooth. I wonder what’s next – will Shannon finally start kindergarten? Will she start being less demanding and more considerate and drop her destructive ways? Will she finally start noticing that her dad has basically abandoned her?
Shannon has a wonderful imagination that mixes everything she knows, she’s always so believable as a child. I really like her and ots so obvious that Brad loves her. It’s nice to see that she’s changing her teeth, she’s growing and it’s so natural and so tender.
“ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz” The Count and, of course, Our Dearest Ann❤️Eiffel who, btw, could tell a much better story than that. And will. Unless, of course, there is something in it for our Belived Ann❤️Eiffel. Ann❤️Eiffel isn’t a “Kiss and Tell” kind of girl… if the price is right if you know what The Count means and The Count thinks you do. >:). See ya’ in church. The Count and Delicious Ann❤️Eiffel. ❤️
“Love that bratty kid.” That oxymoronic phrase warms my heart. Thanks. We do miss her, particularly now that our young adult characters are pretty hot and heavy. Both Luannverse trends are hilarious, but seeing Shannon interact with adults generally, and particularly with Brad and Toni is a special part of it.
This is a sweet and funny cartoon today. Shannon is demonstrating her active imagination and she is not about to be fooled by Brad’s rehashing of Harry Potter. What he needs to do is surprise her and say that Harry had a magic walrus and explain how he meets a girl named Shannon who happens to speak fluent walrus and then….. I guarantee he will have her attention!
another budding writer and now we have a more firm handle on Shannon’s age, ~6 and in 1st grade. She has probably lost other teeth beside the front one now missing.
Wow, Shannon almost won me over with a moment that was cute and authentically child-like. But then? Bam! She was back to shoot down Brad. We missed you, demon child.
When I was a youngster, I asked my grandmother to make up a story for me. She told me the story of The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. I was so impressed. Knowing that she’d grown up on a farm herself, I assumed it was quasi-autobiographical. (Though, at that tender age, I had no idea what quasi-autobiographical meant.) I was quite impressed by her creativity until she later presented me with a storybook of The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse and I discovered it was one of Aesop’s fables. I think that began my personal policy of wanting to see the receipts whenever a grown-up told me anything.

This reminds of that ARTHUR episode where D.W. told Arthur and Buster her own version of Homer’s ODYSSEY in her own, imaginative, four-year-old way.

Brad has the worst marriage in the world of comics. Now, that’s where they need better writing. Much, much better writing.
