Yep, been there…it’s when the plastic blade thingamaroo doesn’t fit on the metal hook thangy (well illustrated in panel 3). That’s when I wish I lived in a warmer climate.
When my wife buys one, she pulls the “I’m a helpless woman” thing and gets the parts guy to put it on. I use the “I’ve got arthritis in my hands and can’t” excuse. Both are true.
When working on wipers, place an old towel over the windscreen to protect the glass. I cracked the glass one day, when the wiper arm slipped from my paw and slapped down hard. I was not pleased.
In over 60 years of driving, I can say varieties of this HAVE happened to me; more than once. I used to think I must be an inept clutz, but as this ‘toon and its comments illustrate, it’s a common phenomenon.
The wipers back years ago had larger rubber blades on the wiper assembly and you could swap out the rubber bits as they wore out. Now you have to buy the whole metal/plastic fixture. The Bosch spring loaded ones that conform nicely to the contours of your glass are about $20 per side and if those had replaceable blades would be awesome. I have gone back to the cheapest I can find.

Just have it done when I have the next oil change. Easier/Cheaper to have them do it then to have them repair my fumbled attempt and install them.

I changed a wiper blade a few days ago, I got the new one back in place, but really not sure how I did it?

What’s the problem? It’s so simple only a child could do it.

Just gotta say… Bosch Icons. Not worth buying any other brand. But I’m not sure they’re any easier to install, Monty.

Pay extra for the silicon blades. They last way way longer than the standard rubber ones,

In Russia they just use a small child with a hair dryer on a very long extension cord.

It’s quite simple. You just have to have a graduate degree from IKEA.

Most auto parts stores offer to install those for free.
