I flinch, and I shy, when a girl with a delicate air walks by..I smile and I grin when a girl with a touch of sin walks in..I hope and I pray, for a Hester to win just one more A.The sadder but wiser girl’s the girl for me. The sadder but wiser girl’s for me….

Seriously, I don’t have to reference this do I? Blow a bunch of trombones if you think I should…

No golden, glorious, gleaming pristine goddess—No sir!For no Diana do I play faun.I can tell you that right now.I snarl, I hiss: How can ignorance be compared to bliss?I spark, I fizz for the lady who knows what time it is.I cheer, I rave for the virtue I’m too late to saveThe sadder-but-wiser girl for me.

No, she was from Lake Wobegon — “where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the children … are above average.”

Dogsniff, yeah, and that’s why Canada is so much more fun, eh? BTW, have you ever been to Montreal or Quebec? French chicks everywhere, man!…They live there! Don’t even have to go over the ocean!

I think it’s worth pointing out that the scarlet “A” has been adopted by many as an international atheist symbol. That puts a bit of a spin on this comic considering the religious views Wiley has alluded to in the past.

In my part of the country, a red letter A means only one thing: she’s an Alabama Crimson Tide fan…

You have got to be above average to earn a letter. I’ve heard that she scores on every play.

Interesting how few of us are talking about “spin”, which is the point of the comic. Instead, we’re talking about girls and trying to explain “The Scarlet Letter” to those who haven’t read it. I guess “spin” is too easy and not nearly as sexy.

Awww, good thing Hester was no nonsense stand by your man spinster instead of a spinner. Or the book would have been just another 7 page pulp filler..Rather enjoy the ‘I love you; I must destroy you.’ turned into I taken mine, now you take yours.
