By cave dwelling times humans already had speech, contrary to silly movies that have cave people grunting. They were working in groups to hunt and speech would have been a huge help in that regard to planning out the hunt.
This string made me think of this scenario (at least the latter panels) back to when I first listened to this song (and have worn it out over the years) – what was it like for the first person to actually form words. Wonder if Wiley is a Pink Floyd fan.
