We seem to be gearing up for a few inches of snow tomorrow night. We did have snow for Christmas: About 15 minutes of “dinner plate” flakes (actually closer to 2 to 3 cm): A sure sign that they were falling through warmer air and getting “sticky” on the way down.

I get a distinct Deja Vu feeling about this ’toon… Aha: © ’17 Wilie Ink, Ltd, 12/26

These are the same beings who placed the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden for no other purpose than to tempt Adam and Eve. (Satan, in the guise of a snake, was simply acting as their agent.) History has shown they do love to play games.

I remember seeing a crosswalk signal from the pre-walking-man era where someone had put the wrong stencil in the lower half, so that the sign would read either “DONT” (in green) or “DONT DONT” (in red).

    I was a good boy. I didn’t dont.

Mother nature was certainly in form around here yesterday. While we stayed inside enjoying our pajama Christmas yesterday the weather was nasty. Rainy with temperatures near freezing. My wife saw posts that even the sanding trucks were sliding down the road and that there were several accidents in town. And from the sound of the rain all night it looks like we’ll have a pajama Boxing day.

Oh, wow!!! Where does The Count find that button? The Count loves snow! Well, as long as The Countmobile stays in the garage and The Count does not have to drive anywhere. But the point: fires in the fireplace, a hot cuppa cocoa like mom used to make, something good on streaming (and good luck with that), a good book (currently really into Karen Abbott). It’s All Good. :)

Question is, in California and elsewhere, much of the ground has been burned over. Bad enough with the current rains in some areas. Wonder how much damage will occur in other parts when the melt begins?

Looks like snow for the next 4-5 days, not much though. I do have to move one of the hummingbird feeders to a warmer spot though, maybe in the gazebo.

My favorite Ziggy cartoon from the 80’s — “Be nice to Mother Nature. Where will you go if she makes you leave home?” [Had it on my office wall until a co-worker tore it down because it was ‘too political’. He didn’t want people to get the idea we were a tree-hugger organization.]

When I was a kid we had snow the week before Christmas and it was lovely. Then it got dry and we had a dust storm on Christmas Eve and the remaining drifts turned brown and muddy. EWWW.

What is it about so very, very many people who completely fail to realize (and/or refuse to acknowledge) the simple fact that Mother Nature does not cater to our whims but that we must cater to hers, and try very hard to not add to the causes of her wrath.

I wish she would pull that lever more often on my early December birthday. It very seldom snows (I have lived most of my life in the mid-Atlantic region), so I have a fair to middlin’ chance of it doing so. It just doesn’t happen enough to my liking. It has snowed more BEFORE my birthday than on it. LOL
