There’s a guy in my area who works as a Santa in season. Has his own beard and really looks the part, and his wife dresses up too. He has a personalized license plate that says NICELIST.
2023 was my rookie year as a Santa. Keeping the beard. I love it when even now in the store some children look, and you can tell they’re thinking, “Is he …?”
Pre-decorated Christmas trees showed up in big box stores in late Sept. Seasonal music played at low volume until October. By the time Christmas arrived, very few cared about it at all. Even the kids were tired of seeing them.
The funny old guy in the red suit is paid by the store that supplies the chair and all the decorations, as well as being surrounded by umpteen families waiting to have a go; can’t see there’s much problem there. But if he’s walking around in summer heat, then I would steer clear – but wait, what if it were a woman wearing that clobber .. ? Now that WOULD be weird.

If there is only twelve days of Christmas, how come it lasts from October to mid January?

I always thought that Santa thing was a bad idea. Then I worked in a mall and saw one behind the scenes, and I KNEW it was a bad idea!
