Do people still remember those old ice cube trays?

I still have ice trays like that, but I don’t use them. They take up too much space in the freezer.

I think I must be missing something here…why does it matter to ice cubes?

One of the classic scenes in the 1993 movie “Independence Day” is when Jeff Goldblum, who is the environmentalist-save-the-planet character, opens the refrigerator freezer compartment, pulls out the ice cube tray, sees that it is empty, puts it back in and slams the door.

That was the big problem with ice cube trays — only one person in our house ever figured out how to fill them.

Little know fact. This was actually a scene from the movie AIRPLANE, that got left on the cutting room floor.

A hint for iced coffee…. put coffee into one of those trays, and freeze it. Use the coffee cubes, instead of regular ice, so when it melts, you won’t water-down the coffee.
