Yes, even as a bird person I know all pets need to be loved and really appreciate when they are. My first big bird (and soulmate) was a cockatoo, who belonged to a young man recently married who let the wife confine her to a dark basement with a single exposed bulb. I loved her for over 23 years until she died young from laying too many eggs (prolapse). I then looked at local shelters for a smaller older bird (due to my own age) and now have my Timneh Grey who is a sweet pet and I will teach and spoil as possible but then he will go to a son who has similar size birds already (so he can be part of a flock).
