With the rents here in Florida going through the roof so that many even with jobs are having trouble paying their landlord. Evictions are at an all time high and many people are being forced to do what Chuck is doing though not in a cardboard box as camping tents are popular if one does not have the coin for a motel room which normally charges rooms by the hour. Times are tough and finding a good place is very difficult and most of these places require first and last month rent plus a month’s deposit which anyone living paycheck to paycheck simply does not have.
This particular toon has got me to thinking about the needs of the homeless, especially the down-and-outers, the ones who insist on sleeping outside. Though, as a child, I did my share of running away. But, I never went farther than down the block. And I quickly realized that regardless of the problems I was leaving behind, I was also leaving behind a warm bed in my own room. Charlie has gone a lot farther than I ever did.
I often wonder what role parents played in Peanuts characters’ lives. Not much of one, I guess. The kids seemed to lead independent lives , with only occasional, casual references to parents.

The accommodations are not great but at least Ruby seems to care about CB more than any of his usual friends (outside of Linus).

I feel sorry for Charlie Brown. He must be real lonely there too.

Thinking of my upcoming flight out of DTW, I might be doing that myself in my car. I have an early flight out. 9am

Too bad there’s no rail lines near by. He could’ve hopped in a boxcar.

Unlike cats, Charlie Brown, you’d prefer a slightly bigger box. Or, maybe you’d like to go home and sleep in your own bed?

Aww, Charlie Brown, you need to go home; the tree-biting is minor compared to this.
