Transcript:
Stephen: Where were you today, neighbor Bob? Bob: In church. I go every Friday. Stephan: You're so into your religion. Why is that? Bob: I just identify so closely with it. It brings me comfort. It brings me joy. And when I'm down. It picks me up. Stephen: You just described how I feel when I watch "The Breakfast Club". Bob: Why are you standing? Stephan: Don't you forget about Stephan!

Stephan, the 80’s were overrated, as was that movie.

I hear there was “music” in the 80s. I haven’t seen any proof.

I was just about to send an email with nothing but a link to a video of that song to my sister. She owes me regular payments of money, and is late.

I saw the movie once, in a theater when it came out. Vaguely remember the premise, but I guess I would have to watch it again to have any idea what the last panel is about. Is it worth it?

Never saw the movie, but in my defense I wasn’t even born yet

The weird thing about this movie is that I don’t remember it being in the theaters at ALL. Then suddenly it was all over cable. And everybody found it themselves, and it became huge. All five of those kids became stars.

That movie is so bad.

@packratjohn Kinda how I feel like about today’s music except that I haven’t heard any rather than seen any.

Come on – that was a great movie! 80s music and movies! “don’t you forget about me!”

“The Breakfast Club” was a somewhat overrated movie that brought together the standard high school stereotypes (jock, nerd, diva, outlaw…) and forced them to interact and get all emotional through the plot device of having them all spend a Saturday morning in detention… apparently without supervision. Much was made of the fact that it was filmed in the closed Maine North high school, but in fact nothing of the school’s interior appeared in the film—they built sets in the school gym.

I’ve never seen the movie so I don’t understand the reference.

Eighties music was both awful and awesome. There were some jewels amid the all the dreck.

I was there for the ‘80s. I even saw The Breakfast Club. But I don’t remember enough about it to get the joke in panel 3 (which, I’m guessing, is a parody of some “memorable” scene in the film)….

I remember reading, back then, that Simple Minds didn’t really even like the song “Don’t You (Forget About Me),” which they didn’t write. (Keith Forsey and Steve Schiff did.) I recall Jim Kerr as saying that there was so much that they would do to or with that song if they weren’t forced to make it “commercial.” So they kind of disavowed it, even though it was their big #1 hit. My favorite SM song is still “Someone Somewhere (In Summertime).”
