When you’re in fifth grade, enjoy knowing the new kids while it lasts. They won’t be starting middle school until you’re in high school. They won’t start high school until you’re in college. And they won’t start college until you graduate.

You’re not old to the other kids, just familiar, but yes maybe a little weird, but you have a Unicorn for a friend!

Bet Phoebe feels like those few years ago was decade.

Not even just making a meta joke, but how it feels like making it from kid age to adulthood takes forever, but then the years just speed up.

Wouldn’t it be very interesting and maybe a little scary if today’s strip had showed an older Phoebe like around 13 to 15 years old.

Because honestly we don’t actually know when Marigold saw herself in the mirrors and we don’t know how long ago Phoebe is talking about when she started school as the new kid.

Don’t you think it will start to feel strange that we’re all going to be very old one day, but Phoebe is still 9 years old.

We haven’t even seen a single birthday party for Phoebe or Marigold in any of the books.

one thing that actually made many people lose interest in Pokemon was because no matter what happened or who did what, Ash just wouldn’t grow up!!.

    Not even change his clothes!.

At least Phoebe changes her clothes.

Dana needs to make a future vision of Phoebe and Marigold.

Don’t worry, Phoebe. Someday, you’ll be a scientist. People like Dakota will end up making a career in a grocery store or a restaurant.

I wonder what a normal kid would be to a unicorn.

I want to be the weird old deacon at church, no matter what the head deacon says.

I used to be the New Kid sometimes 2 or 3 times a year and at least once a year, until I was a sophomore in HS. 16 different schools by 10th grade and I actually got to attend 14 before we moved again, 8th grade was a shitshow thanks to the DoD, registered 4 times and moved twice before first day of school after registering. The second time was because between signing the lease for a house in one town and getting moved in the landlord was blackballed for shady stuff. Basically added fees not spelled out in the lease, and the second house was in a different town and school district. So I got an extra week of vacation.

Oh, Phoebe, hon, you’re definitely a total weirdo. Please note, I don’t think “weird” and “bad” are the same thing. Plenty of weird things aren’t so bad, and plenty of bad things are depressingly normal.
