In response to Linguist from yesterday _ thanks for your comments. I’ve always like Walmart and as an associate there, I don’t like hearing Walmart bashers saying negative things about us. While our current managers are nothing to brag about, a store manager we had in the past was really good, He never passed up a chance to help a customer. He knew how to handle every department in the store and was always happy to help the customers.. He even ran the cash registers when things got busy, I always said that we did not work FOR him so much as we worked WITH him. I even saw him mopping the floor up front on a snowy winter day. He didn’t just page maintenance as our current managers do. And when he questioned why it took overnight maintenance so long to wax the floors, he did some overnight shifts to see why it would take that long. Once he saw how much work it was, he understood why it took so long. Plus, he frequently let us know how much he appreciated us. We were not peons to him as we are to current managers. I really miss having him as our store manager. He was by far the best store manager we ever had.
rekam from yesterday – we had an overnight support manager who had just had an emergency appendectomy and the assistant managers insisted she return to work just a couple days later. She did come back, but she turned in her resignation right after that. She was one of the good ones who did her job well.
Killing spiders is a lot less work and takes less time than capturing to relocate in a less obtrusive spot. And it’s hard to communicate to them that you’re doing it to save their lives (had one in the shower once that was determined to stay and drown rather than be moved under the sink just a few feet away).
I kill all black spiders because it might be a black widow. I also kill all brown spiders because it might be a recluse. The blue ones and orange ones are safe. Also the purple ones.
I’m not sure why the topic is Walmart for TODAY’S cartoon, but I’ll join in. More often than not there are three things I can guarantee during every visit to Walmart: 1) Somewhere I will find at least one item that was opened, half-eaten and then discarded. 2) The bathrooms look as though a monster truck rally had been held in them. 3) The store has thirty registers and only two are open. People shop at Walmart because of the prices and because Walmart is nearly in every city. There are three within driving distance of my home and they are all guilty of these things. Now, that being said there is also good to be said. Walmart employs disabled vets and the mentally handicapped when many other places will not. They also employ felons which is important because they need a chance to start over. In many communities Walmart is the only real place for many people to get a job. I guess my point is that Walmart is FAR from perfect, but like anything there is good and bad. At least be fair in your judgement.
As far as Walmart – it used to be that 97% of their items were made in America. Now, too many items are made overseas – they wouldn’t have much to sell.
I have plenty of spiders outside in my yard, but leave them alone. Do remove webs under the chairs and table, though. Why kill something unless it threatens you? Ditto for those pesky raccoons, crows and possums.
If I see one in the house I will kill it. Which only means there must be 50 others I did NOT see! My garage floor…and a few other locations there…have a ton of spider poop so they must be doing their job…or else I am not a good garage cleaner!
We don’t kill spiders at our place. Most stay inside to eat bugs. If they look dangerous, we do a capture and release to outside.;)
Ah Walmart. Have a funny story. I used to work for a Petsmart that was Nextdoor to Walmart. At the register, sometimes we’d have a customer complain that an item was cheaper at Walmart. We matched prices for customer service. Well, it got old quick when we would call over there to verify. The poor things were always busy or understaffed. It could take 15,20, maybe 30 minutes on the phone for someone to finally do a price check for us. Most of the time, the customer would be so annoyed and say they didn’t care if we cost more, they would from then on always shop with us. Then my managers and us started a game. We would see who would win, Walmart on the phone or our manager walking over and doing the price check themselves. Our managers took their time, put on their coats slowly, walked over slowly, then would come back before anyone at Walmart got back to us! Didn’t matter what time of the day it was, either. Poor Walmart employees for sure. Anyway…. for those of you who work at Walmart or anyone now or in the past that’s done retail….. Have you seen NBC’s Superstore? OMG
Sam Walton said if it was made in America, they would offer it. Folks still usually bought whatever was cheapest since they needed the money for other things more than they wanted to help some unknown stranger who wasn’t buying whatever THEY were making either.

Spider in the house is dead if I see it. Outside or in my workshop…..it’s still dead. I hate spiders!

The only spiders I’m not scared of are little money spiders.
The rest of them make my insides turn to jelly.

The only Walmarts I’ve shopped in were in Mexico….. as far as I’m concerned it’s just an average supermarket…… the booze was cheap, though.

No problem here. The cats love spiders. They are crunchy.
