I have tripped over a speed bump more than once. Fortunately for me, so far, I’ve managed to catch myself without significant damage, but I can see how it would be a serious problem if you did go down. Those drive lanes are anything but clean, smooth and resilient.
Years ago, I had to borrow my mother’s car for a day. When I drove over a speed bump at the recommended speed, the whole front end fell apart. When told of this, my mother said that she had gotten a recall notice for that problem but never had it fixed. Thanks, Mom.
My oddest accident from not looking where I was walking was in college. It had been raining earlier so people were carrying umbrellas. I was late and rushing upstairs I literally ran into the pointy end of an umbrella! When I went to the campus clinic, the doctor commented that he’d treated people who were hit with an umbrella but never before someone who was stabbed!!!
I remember with my mom, I already had the car parked, I had to go her to get her glass frame worked on, when we left I did not give enough room and she caught her foot on parking cement rise, I made certain she did not fall, and after that I made certain to allow room for her.For my family, we used to live in a small town, some blocks had sidewalks others not. I try to be careful. One I missed judged and caught my foot and I went crashing down in a yard that was painful, as the sidewalk was uprooted by a grown tree. My knees was sore and my hands. After that I walked on the street.
I work in a casino with a fairly large parking lot, and it always amazes us when people trip on the speed bumps. We figure they’re just not paying attention, and don’t notice it.

Poor Opal is looking a bit shocked and bedraggled. Earl needs to be a bit more sympathetic to his wife. :(

Does anyone else do this; if you fall and you get right back up, do you look around to see if anyone saw you????

How did Opal get to the mall? Does she drive? She always has to have Earl take her to the fabric store. What did she do with the real Opal?

After 65, I learned it’s best to look down often while walking. But not when dating the Whore of Babylon.

Looks like Earl is sleeping on the sofa tonight. Or in the doghouse.

At least she tripped over a bump. Sometimes I trip on level ground. Most embarrassing — say nothing of the blood.

Opal is so openly cruel to Earl that I can’t blame him for being less than sympathetic.
