I have to deal with the man in the mirror. Maybe that’s why I’m grumpy.

Maybe the old women get grumpy because the old men die off first, leaving the women all alone. Maybe.

Old age results in grumpiness at times!

Nothing lasts forever. Grump at your old man today, for he may not be there tomorrow.

Actually, I know a lot of very happy widows!

Saw a plaque in a craft store once that said “Retirement….twice as much husband, half as much money”.

I have not hit the grumpy stage yet. But I know a lot of grumpy guys who are significantly younger than I am.

I used to work at a nursing home and remember one of the nurses saying that personalities don’t usually change with age, not even with Alzheimer’s a lot of the time (though she was cautious on that note). Personalities just become more pronounced. A grumpy young man becomes a grumpier old man.

So then they’ll start doing a “Grumpy Old Women” movie?

I’m grumpy ‘cause my Lady Wife passed away, goin’ on for 10 years ago. She stuck with me for 39 years of marriage (I’ll never know why) and God (whoever S/he is) must have needed the help. But I sure do miss her.

Old men (me) have to put up with grumpy old men too. It’s usually the most excitement we get in a day.

I believe my wife would agree with that.

A grumpy, unlikable old man I knew decided to transition to female and became a grumpy, unlikable old woman. Is this one example or two?

I’m NOT grumpy and get off my lawn!

Why do you care about this enough to restart the argument? One might almost think you enjoy arguing with your wife.

It’s sort of a “tree falling in the forest” question. Has a woman been grumpy all along but not noticed until retirement brings her together with a spouse. My wife was very “old school”; she believed a man’s place was in the office, not cluttering up the house. :)

One can only wonder how the university study measured grumpiness.

But.. there are less of them so they should be grateful if they still have one. A woman’s logic is impossible to fathom.

Personally, I think I would be careful talking like that to a grumpy woman with 12” knitting needles in her hands!

I once asked about a dozen of my married female friends if they would ever marry again if their husbands were gone (we left the idea of “gone” as painless and theoretical only for purposes of the question). Not ONE said she would remarry again. One said she might want to date. Maybe. Most just smiled, dreamily, and said no. Honestly, I was kind of surprised. None are in unhappy marriages.

I wonder how this works for old lesbian couples?
