Earl Pickles is an Energizer battery: keeps going and going and going and… well, you get the idea.

To be fair, Earl isn’t ahead very often.

There was a little boy that when he was born was just a head. So his mother put him on a window sill so he could watch the other children play. He dearly wished that he had a regular body and that he could play with the other kids. One night a fairy godmother granted him his wish and the next morning when he woke up he discovered that he was whole—a real little boy. He was so excited to play with the other children. He dashed outside and without looking both ways ran across the street. But sadly a truck struck him and ran over him, killing him. The moral of this story is this: Quit when you’re ahead.

Quitting when you’re ahead is definitely NOT the Pickles’ Way of doing things. Pushing to within micrometers of the Point of Alienation is more the Pickles’ Way.

I know a lot of older couples been married a very long time and still going strong. Then reached a peak the husband took ill and left his widowed wife.
