Plastic surgery is another ‘improvement’ I have never appreciated. Have seen a few and my reaction has been, ‘I don’t know this new person.’
My question is this. The faces of loved ones include certain features – the particular curl of the lip that makes the smile hers, the lift of the brow in that particular ironic look when she is amused, the lines around the eyes and lips that show love, concern, appreciation, enjoyment – the characteristics that caused one to fall in love with that face. You get used to them and look forward to seeing them play across the well known face. They are part of your memory and your heart.
Once those features are enhanced, are the gaze, the smile, the warmth still what you remember? Would you have fallen in love with the new features, had they been the first?
