A marriage counselor could use this chart too. “How do you feel when you come home and see your spouse?” Then hand them the chart. Rensis Likert surely would have approved.
My dog was an 8 yesterday. We went to a dog park and he was attacked by a mean old Pomeranian. My dog was big enough that the Pomeranian could not hurt him but my dog was distraught over the attack nonetheless so his tail dropped.
Pain is subjective, yet medical people ask you to assess it on a scale of 0 to 10.
For me 10 is blacking out. I’ve never been there. 9 is total body incapacitation. I’ve been there, mercifully for only seconds at a time (dental procedure).
Otherwise, I managed to inflict level 5 pain on myself while doing physical therapy for a knee replacement.

Nice! It’s just like the smilies we use for people who don’t speak English &/or children.

If the dog wasn’t sitting on the examination table like this, he could just let the tail “speak” for itself.
