Makes a sound like a baby chick “CHEAP”

Last restaurant visit there was a mandatory 20% tip tacked on. Waiter said we can add more. That one dinner blew our budget for six months. Tonight I made canned sardines and pasta. Sardines in a can in Louisiana hot sauce from Poland. Those Polish guys know how to make Louisiana hot sauce… and all for $1.60 a can! C’est tout un sucre!

There was a sandwich shop I used to go to where they had a bell and a tip jar at the cash register. If you put money in the tip jar, the cashier would ring the bell, and all the employees would shout “grazie!” After the first couple of times, before leaving a tip in the jar, I would ask the cashier not to ring that bell. I just imagined having to shout out a response myself every time I heard a bell. Very Pavlovian.

TBH, that wouldn’t surprise me to see.

If you don’t see me as a customer here again in the future, this will be the main reason why.

I’m not rich, but I do well enough. I don’t mind spreading some of my wealth around for people who are willing to do jobs you can’t pay me enough to do. It is a lot easier to dispense with cash than it is to spread around some of the other blessings I’ve been given.

I recently was at a restaurant where the options were “no tip”, “20%”, “22%”, and “25%”. There was no option for “Custom”, so 15% was not even a possibility unless you used cash.

It shall be music to my ears.

If you don’t leave a tip,you get an electric shock.

Oy

No problem. I’ll be tapping “no sale”.

Tips help to insure unreliable service.

What annoys me is that the tip is based on a %. It takes no more effort to pour a house wine than a glass of the best. No more effort to bring out a toasted cheese than a steak sandwich. At $30/hr you make ~ 50 cents a minute, waiter spends.. perhaps ~ 5 minutes with you. $2.50 is a decent tip.

I’d be punching that button so many times…..

We had a bell one place where the exiting customers were to ring if they had a good experience and we all had to respond. I stole the clapper.

They’ve got gratuity down to a “T”.

The reason they’re putting a tip option on those is so the owner can claim the employees are tipped workers, and thus avoid paying minimum wage.

Not only would that not stop me, I’d sustain eye contact while deliberately pressing the “no tip” button. ESPECIALLY if it’s one of these places that STARTS the tip options at 18%.

Be careful. If you tip too much, you’ll fall over.

I tapped ‘no tip’ the other day. There were no sirens.

I hit “No Tip” fairly often since I tip in cash whenever possible. It’s been very hard for local businesses in my area to find good help so I like to show my appreciation to those workers.

This is why anti-tip sentiment is on the rise. Some stores ask for a tip when you haven’t even dealt with a human being.
