National Tater Day. So I should have some “smashed taters” (as we used to call them) for dinner tonight.
National Crayon Day. So I should color a picture while I eat my taters?
National Equal Pay Day. For me, it’s going to be “time and a half pay” day. The store is offering overtime hours and I’m taking them up on it. It’s very rare we get overtime hours and I can use the extra money.
People not allowed to work because of this stupid coronavirus thing are ignoring stay at home orders and are going stark raving mad – in the Walmart stores. A part of me says I should relish my days off away from people and not do overtime hours, but the other part of me says I can handle this – I’ve got this and I can really use the extra money. Here’s a part of the craziness we see every day:
A LOT of people are bringing their kids in the store and letting them run all over the store. Many of these people don’t seem to be shopping for anything important. Instead, they’re buying toys for their kids (who probably already have more toys than they need) and all sorts of things that could easily wait a few weeks or months until things settle down.
Shoplifting & stealing are up. One guy took a TV from the electronics department and tried to “return” it for a refund. The associate at the service caught on easily to his ploy and while she was telling me about it and laughing, the woman who was next in line trying to “return” a couple items turned tail and rushed out of the store, leaving her items on the counter. So she was stealing too!
There was a guy in electronics who coughed on an associate and the jokingly told her he has coronavirus.
And then there was the idiot in stationery on Sunday who poured a bunch of clear glue on the floor. I didn’t see it and I stepped smack dab in the middle of the mess. Maintenance guys cleaned it up and got rid of the rest of the bottle of glue. Then on Monday, in the same spot, some idiot (probably the same one) poured clear laundry detergent and more clear glue all over the tri-fold display boards and onto the floor.
I’m getting to the point where I feel like everybody (except the people here at Ten Cats) are complete and utter morons with no more brains than God gave a flea. What is wrong with people these days?

My brother’s TV station had a company come in yesterday to perform the routine monthly servicing of the emergency backup generator. He turned it on without disconnecting the station from the power grid and created a power surge that fried all the electronics in the station. It knocked all 8 TV channels off the air for four hours. Jim did the 6:00 news with no graphics and no teleprompter. He read his script off wordpad on his laptop computer in front of him. For a while he thought he would have to do the news from the transmitter site. Wonder if that technician still has a job?
@Tad1 . . . heard, then saw, a noisy bluejay this morning. Oy, bet a pair are nesting very nearby. Those birds are champion dive bombers. Fed bread to hungry sparrows. Forgot to wear mask while walking dog (twice) today. Few are out and about, but we cross street when nearing.
Woke up to snow and rain this morning. What is this Spring thing people talk about. I always find it surprising that it can snow and rain at the same time. But, that’s no lie!
By George, that’s a fishy story! On another note, saw some robins and a junco while out walking today. I also heard some Pacific tree frogs. Did you know that every time you hear a frog in a movie, it’s a Pacific tree frog? In the early day of Hollywood using sound, someone recorded a whole pond full of them.
My daughter had to go to the grocery today (for cat food). I gave her a small list and she was actually able to get a bag of Bread Flour for me. So I made 3 loaves of French Bread and gave her one, we shared part of one for dinner (I made lasagna) and put one in the freezer.

There’s something very fishy about this cat’s story. (Someone had to say the obvious pun.)
