    I hope all the Mommies had a wonderful day!

    My sweet SIL made me Huevos Rancheros for Breakfast for Mother’s Day. Yum!

    Dinner was Roast beef and corn on the cob… double yum!

    My Daughter and I are going on a No Sweets Diet. With nothing to do we tend to circle thru the kitchen too many times a day. And my SIL has a sweet tooth AND he orders the groceries. My shorts from last summer are tight!

    Why do you suppose anyone would send mail to an abandoned warehouse? Oh wait – I forgot – this isn’t real – it’s a comic strip. Sorry, Jack & Chesney, no letter from your sweetheart today.

    Today is;

    Eat What You Want Day. I eat what I want every day

    Twilight Zone Day. I just watched a Christmas episode of that show tonight – the one where a drunkard loses his job in a store where he played Santa Claus. Then he stumbles across a magic gift bag that gives whatever anybody wants.

    National Foam Rolling Day

    National Women’s Checkup Day

    At 4:00 pm on Mother’s Day, I had 3 customers in a row ask me if we had any cut flowers. We had scads and scads of them just 2 days earlier, but come on – REALLY? To ask for Mother’s Day flowers in the middle of the afternoon on Mother’s Day? Even if we had any left (we did not), they’d be getting the worst-looking ones – the ones everyone else rejected. But we did get a bunch of new plants on Saturday, which they kept inside the store for people to buy for Mother’s Day. We got hibiscus and manadevilla vines (not sure how that is spelled) and some other stuff. As of 6:00 when my shift was over, we had sold all but 2 of the orchids we had up front. So many last-minute shoppers for Mother’s Day! That table was full of orchids on Friday.

    On another note, despite having an overnight low temperature on Friday night into the mid 20’s, all of our plants survived the night! It was a lot of work bringing plants inside and covering the rest, but it was worth it having everything pull through. I was not happy to see the SNOW falling for an hour or more on Sunday afternoon, but it didn’t stick. What did stick only stayed for about an hour before it melted. But it rained and snowed pretty much all day. Just a really lousy weather day. Things are looking up, though. They predicted a low around 30° for Sunday night, but I don’t think it’s getting that cold (it’s 2:00 in the morning now). Just one more night (Monday night) they think we could get frost, then we’ll start having low temps in the 40’s.

    Ever since I got my dash cam put in my car, I’ve been trying to get a good video of a flooded farm field that looks like a lake. It had been pretty swampy for a few years, but after the flood in August 2018, it never dried out. It looks like a lake all summer and like a skate pond all winter. I often see ducks & geese swimming in this pond. I finally got some decent footage of it while driving home from work last night. It’s a 3-minute video, showing Pleasant View Road, then the flooded farm field is seen after I turn onto the highway. So you don’t see it until the tail end of the video. But anyway, if you want to see part of my drive home, here it is:

    Every morning, our cats start clawing the bedroom door at about 6:30 because they’d like to have breakfast as soon as the sun comes up. In order to try and save what’s left of the paint, we put a gate across the top of the stairs. Now they bang on the gate, which is louder than the door was.

    Every time I hear it, I imagine Chesney with a tin cup banging it against the bars like in some old-timey prison movie.

    Those boys have it bad! Probably good they don’t know where she lives or they might get arrested as stalkers.

    Sorry, boys, better luck tomorrow. Planted my garden today. Glad to have gotten that done earlier than I did last year. On another note, saw a rabbit, a butterfly, and a robin while out walking today.

    By 4 this afternoon, the bird feeders were empty. So I lightly filled them. I’ve got mama and papa sparrows and finches bringing babies to the rail to feed them…such good babies. I also had lots of Red Breasted Grosbeaks today and they are loading up for the trip north. I looked out once and there were 6 females and 1 male Grosbeak. I laughed thinking he had a harem.
