The Born Loser by Art & Chip Sansom Gladys: You look down in the dumps! Brutus: I'm depressed. Gladys: Did something bad happen? Brutus: Not yet, but I'm the Born Loser...I know it's just a matter of time before something does! Gladys: Don't be such a pessimist - it's not good for your health. Gladys: They've even done studies that show optimistic people live longer than pessimists. Brutus: Well, sure...and do you know why that is? Brutus: The pessimists are pessimistic because they know they're not gonna live as long!
Optimists are always getting nasty surprises because things don’t turn out as well as they expected. Pessimists get pleasant surprises because things aren’t as bad as they’d thought they’d be. That’s why I’m a pessimist.
