Brutus: I'm afraid I'm losing my memory - it seems to be getting worse every day!
Brutus: If you asked me to recite the periodic table from our school chemistry class, I couldn't do one!
Gladys: You never took chemistry class!
My wife put her car keys in the chest freezer, then forgot where she had put them, her glasses OTOH, she left on top of the freezer. I discovered both while getting some home made cookies out of the freezer. So I bought the key finder for our landline phone system and attached units to her keys and glasses. Neither one gets lost for any length of time anymore
How could he not of studied any Chemistry ? At least he would of had to of used the Periodic Table of the Elements in Basic Science which we all were required to study in School. Maybe he never went to Junior or High School ? I sure remember using it . even though I agree it isn’t very useful to most people. I never used a lot of the required material we had to study, and I was an Marine Engineering/Gas Turbine Mechanic ( Jet Engines ) in the USNavy.
Some forgetfulness is normal aging, some isn’t. Both of my parents had dementia, so I understand the importance of early detection. (Some medication only works if caught early enough.) My memory is definitely getting worse. I couldn’t remember whether to turn the shower knob to the right or left, in a house I’ve lived in for 20+ years! (Not the only example.) Forgetting names, where you’ve left something, is normal as we age. Confusion can be a sign of dementia.
