Transcript:
Evelyn: How do you expect me to embrace your marriage to a man I just met? Jessica: It's called a leap of faith! You should try it for once! Evelyn: Are you joking? Our entire mother/daughter relationship is a leap of faith! Six years of a free college education... the endless loans, investments and bailouts! Jessica: All right, Mother! You don't have to rub it in! Evelyn: I beg to differ! And I offer Mr. Living Romance Novel as exhibit A! Dusty: Ah notice you're into the Nautilus workout, too!
It just occured to me (yes, I’m that slow) that Evelyn’s problem with her daughter is self generated; she’s an enabler who constantly “rescue’s” her daughter, who having no spine herself, hopped on the money wagon and never let go. I’m not saying she isn’t right in scolding her daughter, but she ought to be admitting her own part of the process.
