It seems old reliable programs, like Blue Bloods, have become a series of skits a few minutes long between hype and glitter for stuff. Don’t know the exact ratio of program time to ad time, but it has definitely changed in favor of ads.
But then, that was a problem beginning in the 60’s and continued to worsen ever since. And, of course, many ads push meds and med procedures that are not needed by most and not prescribed by doctors or products that are not needed by most of the public.
We are fortunate the networks and mfgs have not managed to ban dvrs on normal tv or there would be no way to avoid the trash except to just turn tv off and send it to the dump. Viewers are the herd and mfgs/ad sellers are the herders.
