You have the right to free speech, as long as you’re not dumb enough to actually try it.

Especially here. I can’t stand trying to read a comic when there’s an ad over it!

Rather strainge: I don’t recall seeing any character smoking in Wizard of Id. Neither are there any ads on the castle walls.

But if there were ads in Id, what would they say?

Ads and commercials have dominated this planet! Even paying for TV, we are constantly being bombarded by gross, disgusting, repetitive, condescending, loud, aggravating, embarrassing ads!

In a 60 min show, there is 20 minutes of ads….

Money makes the world go ’round but this is sickening‼️‼️‼️☹️☹️☹️

It seems old reliable programs, like Blue Bloods, have become a series of skits a few minutes long between hype and glitter for stuff. Don’t know the exact ratio of program time to ad time, but it has definitely changed in favor of ads.

But then, that was a problem beginning in the 60’s and continued to worsen ever since. And, of course, many ads push meds and med procedures that are not needed by most and not prescribed by doctors or products that are not needed by most of the public.

We are fortunate the networks and mfgs have not managed to ban dvrs on normal tv or there would be no way to avoid the trash except to just turn tv off and send it to the dump. Viewers are the herd and mfgs/ad sellers are the herders.

Interesting coming from someone who’s living has always been financed by advertising.

Well, now that the Republicans are making the rules in the House of Representatives we’ve taken a great leap…backwards?

Smoking is no longer prohibited in the House of Representatives, members can now smoke in their own offices.

While they allow themselves the privilege of smoking the rest of us yoikes will still have to suffer withdraw when going to speak to them.

I traveled to Spain in 2002. The first dose of culture shock came as we entered the terminal in Madrid. All I could smell was cigarette smoke. Coming from a place where smoking in public places had been banned for years, it was an unpleasant surprise. Thankfully, this has changed.

What? Unless that is supposed to point to banning political advertising that is pro-Shorty.
