“Although it may be tempting to blame the turkey, the tryptophan likely doesn’t make you sleepy on its own. Rather, eating foods with tryptophan in addition to a large number of carbohydrates leads to sleepiness.”
Ugh, can we put the tryptophan myth to rest? It’s the amount of total carbs ingested, requiring increased bloodflow to one’s digestive system, NOT tryptophan, that makes one groggy. Sorry to be a pedant, but sheesh….

If not, you can create something to put into their drinks, Wiz…

Today Wiz gets to eat in the castle. Not that little house like he sometimes does.

I’m with Wiz. I don’t want to talk politics with anyone, even if we agree on them.

But you will miss the football game.

That meat is neither turkey white. Nor ham pink. Tryptophan may be the least of his worries.

At least everyone at our Thanksgiving dinner shares my view that trump is (fill in the blank)
zenyattafan about 1 year ago
Turkey, peas and bread is the entire dinner?
Goat from PBS about 1 year ago
If anyone starts talking politics, just say, “Non-specific excuse!” knock your plate off the table, and then run for the nearest TV to watch football.
Happy Thanksgiving!
preacherman Premium Member about 1 year ago
It looks like it’s ham for today, not turkey. Does baked ham have tryptophan?
phnx1965 about 1 year ago
Happy Thanksgiving toWizard of Id, thank you for remembering!
EnlilEnkiEa about 1 year ago
These days, politics are more potent than tryptophan.
puddleglum1066 about 1 year ago
As today’s xkcd comic (xkcd dot com) points out, surveys show most families don’t argue about politics at Thanksgiving.
Of course, the Kingdom of Id might not be “most families.”

I see they actually did get a turkey, but the king got left out. Better hope he doesn’t find out or they’ll be spending Christmas in the dungeon.
[Unnamed Reader - 288232] about 1 year ago
Except, they are eating ham. No turkey in sight.
geese28 about 1 year ago
Good thing is after politics start you realize you won’t have to get as many gifts as you thought for Christmas.

I’m going with crab legs.
