I’m no fan of DST, but that “reason” is utter hogwash. DST puts more of the daylight hours after working hours, not during them.
Any time when plutocrats were the ruling class, and workers were chattel.
I heard that it’s store owners that advocate for DST — more hours of daylight after work encourage people to stop at stores on their way home.
