I love these ‘old’ cartoons!

boy was i taken in by this for awhile. now i find it an interesting send-up of working daze.

Is this a real comic strip? If so, they should be compiled and sold as a book!

Appreciation of beauty or loveliness is not misogyny.

Rita has come a long way. From a grouch to a total airhead!

Mmmm. So unflattering depictions of a women makes it “mysogynistic”; does unflattering (to put it kindly) depictions of men also make it misanthropic and/or misandric?

Some would get upset with the misogynism expressed in the comic, but putting it into historical context it can be used to show how far we have come and how far we have to go. Rather than destroying such works I would rather they be placed in a museum or other such place and used as historical research and as examples of what to avoid in the future. Like Bf-109s and AM6 Zeros on display at aviation museums.

It would be interesting to see how high Mr. Johnstone jumps when he first sees Rita. It will be quite a surprise.

Not that this has any real relation to the comic, but having the two secretaries makes me think of a panel in “Mad” many years ago: “You know you are a success when you have to get rid of your beautiful secretary and replace her with an efficient one”. (Dated and sexist, I know, but not any less real world.)

I love all of the “old” or “historic” Working Daze comics (my favorite representing the World War II period). I’m sure most of us, certainly those who have been reading comics for multiple decades (like 60 + years in my case), recognize the styles and inspiration for each incarnation! A “tip of the hat” to you!

This cartoon is more than 100 years old! I love history and I love antiques and this particular panel is both. Thanks for posting it Scott and if you have any more, please do so again.

Something seems amiss here. Why would Rita be described as capable?

Rita has definitely gotten better looking through the years.
